For 80 years, Cressy Tennis Club has been more than just a club — it has been a family affair, community, and a legacy built on serving tennis players needs, passion, dedication, and connection across the regions tennis community as the second oldest tennis Club in Rockhampton Tennis Association (RTA).

We are incredibly proud to invite all past and present players, life members, officials, supporters, and friends to join us in celebrating this remarkable milestone at our 80th Anniversary celebration & memorabilia over the weekend of 10-11 October 2026, with a gathering on Saturday evening. Venue and cost to be advised (TBA).

This special tennis weekend is a tribute to the generations of tennis enthusiasts who have shaped our club — the stories shared, the friendships formed, and the countless contributions that have served Cressy tennis teams through the decades. From our earliest formation years since 1946 to the club we are today, this weekend is about honouring you — the people who made it all possible.

They say playing the beautiful game of Tennis adds ten years to your life. The picture below may be living proof - Pat Hayes member of Tennis Veterans Rockhampton Association recently turned 90 and is still actively playing tennis a couple of times a week. Only one other i can think of who is still playing into their 90's - another gentleman of the game Ollie Smith. Can anyone add to the list of tennis players still partaking in this sport or did play into their 90's.

Happy birthday w/end to our Cressy Secretary Warren and if any current Cressy member guesses his ‘correct age’ you get FREE Club membership for 2026 and a personalised invitation to our Clubs 80th Anniversary celebration in October. A group of members gathered Saturday 7th Feb under the guidence of Club President Gordon Acutt to discuss social matches (Yeppoon Pineapple Challenge, Olive McBryde Vets Memorial, PA Rod Laver Court match). Only a week to go till the end of year Cressy tennis club get together. This year - something a little different. Table tennis or some call it Ping Pong. Show your talent next Saturday 13th December at the Table Tennis centre located 157 Campbell St, Rockhampton from 6pm. Be great to see the current gang and open also to past members to come along and have some great fun. Pizza and drinks with endless amounts of sledging on and off the court for sure. Bring a bat if you want or there will be some spare to use. $20 to cover costs. Please respond to this post or call Warren or Gordon 0422 636 197 know ASAP for catering purposes. Game On.

Another great Sunday morning of tennis for the annual Olive McBryde memorial match between Cressy and Tennis Veterans Rockhampton Association Vets tennis. Vets regain the honours with a close 6-4set victory over Cressy double pairing. Gotta Love It.
