Cressy Tennis Club closed Doubles Championships tonight at Rocky tennis centre. 10 players slugged it out on the front courts, with a lot of excellent tennis played. We were fortunate to have the RTA President on hand to present the Trophy ( which has been missing since 2019 - but turned up tonight just prior to play under guard by Ex-President and Trophy collector Tim Griffin who had been keeping it safe all these years ).

Winner A grade Rob Kirkpatrick and Gordon Acutt

Winner B Grade Rendon, Roy and Warren.
Yes 3 winners as Rendin won outright and Roy and Warren tied in second spot on points.

Great night, plenty of laughs 😃 and fun had by all.

Cressy Tennis Club Closed Doubles Championships held tonight at Rocky tennis centre. 10 players slugged it out on the front courts vying for the prize.
The prize is having your names engraved on the Open Doubles shield, not seen since 2019.
Funny enough it turned up just prior to play commencing, under guard by Tim Griffin the man who has been keeping it safe all these years.
Fortunate to have RTA President Dan Coates on hand to present the trophies to the winning members. A round robin was used to decide the winners.

B Grade Winners Rendon Johnston Warren Acutt and Roy Pidgeon .

Great night fun, laughter and plenty of great tennis played by all.

Something people would not know about you - was a tennis coach with Ken Lawn and coached Greg Stewart, Brett Shaw and Philip Grey.

Good interview with this beautiful lady today, Unfortunately unable to attend the Cressy Tennis Club 80th dinner celebrations , but agreed to talk about her tennis history.
More of Marcia's story and many others will be explored on the 10th October at our club celebrations.

Cressy club championships this Wednesday night at Victoria Park, Rockhampton Tennis Association 9th September starting 6pm.
Weather is prefect. The Doubles competition- just turn up and we can sort the teams out on the night. Down the front courts 1-5.
Always a great night of fun, laughs and good tennis. Who will be the champuons of the A and B grade in Cressy's 80th year.
If you currently have the Cressy Tennis Club open doubles trophy please advise as it seems to be missing at present.
See you on the courts Wednesday.
