RESULTS 🥔🎉
The girls faced the local derby against Storm, finishing up as a 16-4 loss. Was a close match, showing some great defence from both sides to keep the score 0-0 at halftime. Storm got 2 tries to start the second half taking the score to 12-0, with our girls then biting back with a try from Rhi O’Neill to make it 12-4. Storm got one last try in the final minutes to finalise the score 16-4. Some great defence from our girls but wasn’t enough to secure the win.

The Regan Cup boys came away with an 18-all draw in a brutal rematch with Basin.

Just seven days after the two teams met in horrible conditions the drier weather meant a more open game this week but again Basin hopped out to early early lead with two quick tries. The Spuddies replied through Dyl Balaam, with a 12-6 score favouring the visitors at the break.

The Spuddies levelled at 12-all early in the second half with Aiden Moule crashing over and earning a new cosmetic improvement at the same time, before Basin scored again to retake the lead 18-12.

Rory Muir was electric all game and his great try out wide was converted by Charles Whatman to again level the scores before a frantic final 10 minutes from both teams failed to spilt the deadlock.

James Hagger, Mac Akrigg, Moule and Muir were some of the Spuddies best in a great team effort.

Thanks to the Basin boys for another tough game and for coming up the mountain twice in a week, we’ll see them later in the season down there.

Next weekend is the Long Weekend with no games scheduled, however both teams return to Spud Park on Saturday June 13th.

RESULTS 🥔🎉
The girls continue their winning streak with a tough 6-4 win against Basin. In some miserable conditions & a wet ball, Basin got an early try to take the lead to 4-0. The girls stayed in the grind in the second half and fought their way through many repeated sets on their defensive line with many great try-saving tags. They were rewarded for their efforts with a try under the post by Taylah Vella to take the lead 6-4. A great game in tough conditions by many, in particular Beth Cochran & Taylah Vella, in the eyes of their teammates.

The Regan Cup boys suffered a 26-16 loss to Basin in what can be described as a pretty dour game of football.

The Dragons jumped out to a 6-nil lead with their first attacking raid however the Spuddies levelled soon after and the remainder of the first half was marred by handling errors. Two tries from kicks in the slippery conditions saw Basin take a 14-6 lead into the break.

The second half was no better for both teams however the Spuddies got within striking distance at 24-16 with ten minutes to go but Basin closed the game out with a late penalty goal and took the win.

Kemp Seville was a standout for the Spuddies whilst Paul Briggs and Jayden Valenzisi showed glimpses of their old form.

Next week we are at home again with the LLT girls taking on the Storm in a local derby while a quirk in the draw sees the men again host Basin.

Following the games head down to Robertson Public House for ‘The Hit Ups’, playing from 7pm-10pm. Featuring footy legend Mark ‘Spudd’ Carroll & Andrew Dawson playing all your favourite classic rock songs, it’s sure to be a great night with some fantastic live music. Free entry, table bookings recommended.
