With the Football Season ready to kick off on the 19th April we must now turn our attention to finalising teams across multiple age groups. Part of this process is to ensure that everyone who intends playing football this season is registered by March 1st 2020.

To bring the Club together one last time before the start of our practice games we will be holding a Footy Festival, Registration Day and Jumper Presentation on Sunday March 1st from 1.00pm to 4.00pm.

There is lots happening including:

Popcorn, Fairy Floss and Snow Cone Machines
Merchandise Shop
Mouth Guard Van
Registrations Support
Under 14 Boys Sausage Sizzle fundraiser for their upcoming Northern Territory football trip.

Plus for the players there will be fun activities including:

Jumper Presentation (players must be registered to receive their playing jumper)
Football Competitions including Parents versus Kids with great prizes for the victors

The timing by age group is as follows:

Player Activity & Jumper Presentation Schedule

U8/9/10/10G – 1.00pm to 2.00pm
Arrive at by 12.45pm. for a 1.00pm start

1.00pm - 1.15pm - U8
1.15pm - 1.30pm - U9
1.30pm - 1.45pm - U10
1.45pm - 2.00pm - U10 Girls

You will have 45 minutes of footy activities staggered around your presentation time between 1.00pm to 2.00pm. You can then enjoy the Footy Festival up to 4.00pm.

U11/12/12G/13 – 2pm to 3pm
Arrive by 1.45pm for a 2.00pm start

2.00pm - 2.15pm - U11
2.15pm - 2.30pm - U12
2.30pm - 2.45pm - U12 Girls
2.45pm - 3.00pm - U13

You will have 45 minutes of footy activities staggered around your presentation time between 2.00pm to 3.00pm. You can then enjoy the Footy Festival from 1.00pm up to 4.00pm.

U14/14G/16G/17 – 3pm to 4pm
Arrive by 2.45pm for a 3.00pm start

3.00pm - 3.15pm - U14
3.15pm - 3.30pm - U14 Girls
3.30pm - 3.45pm - U16 Girls
3.45pm - 4.00pm - U17

You will have 45 minutes of footy activities staggered around your presentation time between 3.00pm to 4.00pm. You can then enjoy the Footy Festival from 1.00pm up to 4.00pm.

For those who are yet to register please do so before the 1st March as this will ensure you receive your jumper at our jumper presentation day.

For those who registered prior to November 1st 2019 (early bird), you are now required to pay your $18.00 EFNL fee. To ensure your child is covered this must be paid before your child plays in any practice matches or fixtured games.

The final round of the home and away season was upon us and so was the winter weather!!! But the weather did not get us down and we were all determined to fight as hard as we could to finish on a high. Our physical pressure was extremely high from the get go and our opponents were not expecting it. As a team we focused on the game and there were a few players moved around to allow for some quick clearances. It was a great team effort and we deserved the win! Unfortunately we could only get the draw this round. The improvement by all players this season has been amazing and we finished the season 5th on the ladder a huge jump from last on the ladder in 2018.

Our 2019 season finished with:

Round 13 we were determined to redeem ourselves against Knox who last game we let them back in the contest and finished with a draw....This game we started off strong and never let them get a look in! We moved the ball very well around the ground and were able to string together some great plays.
We worked well as a team and communicated really effectively. Thanks to some of the under 10 girls who came down to the game and supported us, our new lucky charms!

Round 12 we headed to Heathmont after two weeks off....to be honest we were all a bit nervous as we felt we may of been a little rusty with such a big break, but as soon as the siren went we were able to switch on and get a great start. We controlled the game and were able to move the ball around the ground very well which was great.

Ange Howe played her last game for the Norwood Women’s Football team and we celebrated well with her when she kicked a sneaky goal in the second half. A great game and we are all excited to face Knox next week to redeem ourselves after our last contest being a draw.

Round 10 we headed to the Basin to compete in our first night match of the year. It was great fun to play under lights but we let our opponent get the jump on us in the first quarter. We fought back hard and the scores don’t really reflect how competitive we were during the whole match. We have the next two weeks off which hopefully will allow us to recharge and reset ready for our last three games of the regular fixture. 💪🏼💛💜🖤

Round 9 was a rainy, windy day but that did not stop us from coming out ready to play! In the first quarter we really backed ourselves in and used our tackle pressure to lock the ball into our forward line and we were rewarded! As the game went on the conditions got worse and we let our opponent get a couple of cheeky goals but we were able to stay strong and on top with lots of great efforts across the ground. 💪🏼💛💜🖤

Round 7 was a tough week with only 14 players taking the field for the game. We started off really well with every run down and strong tackle being laid our opponent realised just because we were short didn’t mean we weren’t there to play! The team never gave up but over four quarters we were unable to keep up with no bench. We are looking forward to playing our opponent next time with our full team which will most definitely be a completely different game. 💪🏼💛💜🖤
