With 26 runs required from 39 balls, NZ batsman Grant Elliot tried to take a quick single, but Ryan Sidebottom, the bowler came his way, colliding with him and they both fell on the ground.

Ian Bell who saw Elliot down on the ground, picked up the ball and ran him out. The umpires didn't like it a bit and asked the English skipper Paul Collingwood if he'd like to withdraw the appeal, but he denied to withdraw it.
