Vicco lads Tawa Hura and Dillon Mould have progressed through to the Open semi finals!

Tawa is also surfing in the Juniors Quarter finals tomorrow.

Steve Watson and Josh Carson to surf tomorrow in Grand Master and DK respectively.

Results of the 2016 Vic State titles presented by Three Trees and Nomad. The Comp was held in 2-3ft light onshore conditions at Rye on Saturday.

A great day was had by all in attendance, and the standard very high despite the poor conditions!

Congrats to Tawa for his second straight open state title, he surfed awesome all day and did well to survive a late charge from Boggy in the final! Also to Dillon Mould taking 3rd in his first Victorian comp since his move down here, super smooth all day..

Liam and Rhodes were neck and neck all day in the Over 23 mens, with Liam just getting the nod with a slightly better second wave in the final, congrats mate! Has been ripping hard and deserved this win!

Sam Whittle, what a day, just got the waves and is turning back the clock at the moment, congrats!

And to Steve Watson in the Over 35's, got it done again with the highest heat total of the day including a manic double roll wave over the dry inside ledge that had the whole crowd cheering!! Awesome stuff!

A big thanks to all the judges, Steve and Jo, and Ray for running the day super smoothly, and lets hope we can get a strong team up to the Nationals this year and give it a real shake!

"This is me when I won my first State Title in Cadet division January1987.
I was 14 years old prior to the state title. I only had one aim, it was to beat Duncan Buchanan. He was better than me in surf over 2ft. I used to be scared of 3ft. I only surfed 1-2ft. Anything bigger than 3ft, I didn't stand a chance. Luckily, that day at Eastern View was 1ft. I was much lighter than Duncan, he was big for his age. Duncan was a good bodyboarder back then. His older brother Jamie was even better. I used to look up to those guys. I wish I had kept that board, Mach 7-7, as part of my collection. I was riding a Mach 10, the board was way over size for my size."
