Up next... we have an absolute legend of our club, none other than Daniel Schwarzer!
Daniel began his football journey at just five years old with Richmond RSL and has since become a true stalwart of Hawkesbury City FC. Over 12 years of service and 200+ games as first-grade goalkeeper, he has also taken on the roles of captain, club captain, and committee member.
Beyond his performances on the field, Daniel is highly respected for everything he contributes off it … always willing to lend a hand, support club development, and get involved in building infrastructure and helping wherever needed. His dedication, leadership, and work ethic continue to have a lasting impact on our club and the wider community.

Of course, football excellence runs in the family. Daniel is the younger brother of Mark Schwarzer (Socceroos cap #397), who began his own football journey locally in the Hawkesbury with Colo FC before going on to represent Australia at the highest level!

Mark went on to become Australia’s most-capped male player with 109 international appearances and a cornerstone of the “Golden Generation.” He also achieved a record-breaking club career in the English Premier League with 514 appearances, the most by any non-British player, and represented Australia at the 2006 and 2010 FIFA World Cups. He is also fondly remembered for his heroics in the 2005 World Cup qualifying playoff against Uruguay.

Since retiring, Mark has remained deeply involved in the game as a respected analyst and commentator across major international football coverage.

A proud football family and a great example of passion, service, and dedication to the game.

As the football world turns its attention to the biggest stage in the game, HCFC is proud to reflect on the deep roots and family connections that tie some of the current members to the broader Australian football story!

The first of these connections is own very own Brad Gibson, former 1st Grade striker, youth coach and now current Technical Director of JDL. Brad has been a key part of shaping the development pathway at our club, playing an important role in guiding the next generation of players coming through HCFC.

What many may not know is that Brad’s football story extends well beyond the club level, with Socceroos representation on both sides of his family! He carries a unique link to Australia’s National team history … a reminder of the generations of talent, passion, and commitment that have built the game we all love here in Australia.

Brad’s father, Michael Gibson, (Socceroo cap #349) a goalkeeper who represented the Socceroo's on 7 x occasions between 1985 and 1989, including an International appearance in an Olympic Games qualification match v Taiwan in 1988 where Australia claimed a 3–2 victory!

Brad’s grandfather on his mother’s side, Stan Ackerley (Socceroo cap #164), is a highly respected former footballer who began his career in the youth system at Manchester United before moving to Australia in the early 1960s.
Stan earnt his first cap for Australia in the 1965 World Cup qualifier v North Korea and was later selected for the 1967 Asian tour & the 1969 World Cup qualifying campaign.
Over his international career, Stan made 30 appearances for the Socceroo's and captained the team on 3 x occasions.
Today, Stan is still closely connected to the game, often seen down at Bensons lane. He also mentors and provides private coaching to emerging players, helping guide the next generation!

Two big wins for the Hawks today in relentless rain 🌧.

Tough conditions, tough football, and an even tougher group of players who stood up when it mattered most. Huge effort across both games.
