One of our recent families started bringing their 20 month old daughter to Sherriffs Road Swimming Centre in Reynella, and her dad Kane couldn't speak highly enough of her experience. Small class sizes, a consistent instructor she already knows by name, and a little girl who loves every session.

That's what we're building here. Not just swim skills, a place families feel at home.

This week we meet... CHLOE 👋

One of the familiar faces you'll find on the pool deck at Sherriffs Road Swimming Centre! 🌊

Chloe has been a swimming instructor for almost 5 years, and it shows. She's warm, welcoming, and the kind of instructor who genuinely gets to know her students celebrating every milestone, no matter how small. As both an instructor and pool deck coordinator, she plays a key role in making sure our lessons run smoothly and safely every single day.

If your child comes home talking about arm circles, creative metaphors, or someone reminding them to keep kicking... Chances are, that's Chloe working her magic. 😊

At Sherriffs Road Swimming Centre, every lesson for primary school aged children and under is capped at 30 minutes and it's one of the things we feel most strongly about.

Here's why. 👇

Research shows that children aged 5–7 have a focused attention span of around 10–18 minutes. By primary school age, that extends slightly but in the water, where children are simultaneously managing buoyancy, breath control, coordination and instruction, cognitive load is significantly higher than in a classroom setting.

What that means in practice: a 30 minute lesson with a fully engaged child will always outperform a longer lesson where they've mentally switched off halfway through.

We're not watching the clock, we're watching your child. And after more than 50 years of teaching swimming in Reynella, we've seen what focused, well-structured lessons do for children's confidence and progress.

When Katie brought her children to Sherriffs Road Swimming Centre, she wasn't sure what to expect.

A reminder that Sherriffs Road Swimming Centre will be closed on Monday 8th June for the King's Birthday public holiday.

We reopen Tuesday 9th June at 8:00am - normal schedule from there.

If your child normally has a lesson on a Monday, you will not be charged for this lesson. 💙 Stay safe and enjoy your long weekend.

This week we meet... Keaton, one of our newest instructors, and already a firm favourite with the children in his classes.

Swimming is practically in Keaton's DNA. His mum is a swim instructor, and after 2.5 years teaching across three different centres, he brings real experience and a genuine love of the water to every lesson.

What he enjoys most isn't the technique, it's the moment a child stops thinking about it and starts actually having fun. That's what keeps him coming back.

He specialises in freestyle, and if you've got a child in one of his classes, one word will become very familiar very quickly: KICK. 🤪

Ask him what sea creature he'd be and he'll tell you dolphin. No hesitation. Because they're pretty cool. We reckon he fits in just fine. 🐬
