Hello families,
We are excited to be on the eve of another fantastic season of Little Athletics at Preston Reservoir and hope you and your family will once again be part of our centre.
REGISTRATIONS AND CALENDAR
Registrations are now open for the new season, commencing Sat 3 Oct. Our full season calendar is available on our Stack Team App page. A renewal email has also been sent by LAVIC to the email address registered to your GameDay account.
NEW CHANGES
There are several exciting changes for the 2026/27 season, including:
- A refreshed competition program with new events, including Turbo Javelin for U10 athletes. The full program is available on Stack Team App.
- Athletes will no longer need to have Coles patches sewn above the LAVIC logo on centre uniforms. Coles has replaced Commonwealth Bank as the sponsor of membership name patches. Athletes must continue to wear their name patches each week so we can accurately record results.
- We have worked with Council over winter to improve our canteen facilities so we can expand the range of food and drinks we can offer. We are excited about the new options available to athletes and families! With a larger range, we will also need more volunteers to help operate the canteen, so please consider whether you can lend a hand.
- A new volunteer requirement will apply this season, with each family required to complete a minimum of six volunteer duties per season for their athletes to be eligible to compete at Championship Weekend. We hope this will encourage more families to get involved across the variety of roles available. Our new Volunteer Coordinator, Shara will be available to support families with any questions. The roster is already published, so we encourage families to sign up for their six duties early.
- We also have allocated age groups each week to our calendar to assist with set up. Age groups have only been listed twice across the whole season and we hope that will now mean that there will be more help in setting up our program each week to avoid relying on the same people.
COACHING & PARENT HELPER COURSE
We are pleased to be hosting a Little Athletics Victoria blended Coaching & Parent Helpers course at Edwardes Lake on Sunday 18 October, 9am–3pm.
The course is FREE and is a great opportunity to learn more about athletics events and build your knowledge. What you learn will directly benefit our athletes each week, whether you are helping on Saturday mornings or getting involved with our training and coaching team. We strongly encourage families to take advantage of this opportunity, right here at PRLAC!
CENTRE CAPTAIN & LEADERS NOMINATIONS
Nominations are now open for athletes in the Under 13–17 age groups to join our leadership group as Centre Captains or Leaders. Nominations close this Saturday 19 September, so encourage your child to consider applying for this great leadership opportunity.
SPONSORSHIP
We are seeking the support of local businesses and our PRLAC community to help us continue investing in our athletes, volunteers and centre. Our 2026/27 sponsorship packages are now available published on Stack Team App, with a range of opportunities for businesses to support the club and gain exposure throughout the season. If you know of a business that may be interested in supporting PRLAC, please get in touch with us or share our sponsorship information with them.
COACHING
We are excited to welcome our new Coaching Coordinator, Steph, who will lead our coaching program this season. We will again offer Wednesday training sessions 5:30-6:30pm commencing Wed 7th Oct, including special guest speed coaches, as well as workshops with specialist coaches throughout the season among some other exciting athlete development opportunities. A new addition will be integrating Saturday Skill sessions throughout our program where possible on Saturdays to provide coaching to athletes in between events. We are also expanding our partnership with our senior club, Preston Athletic Club, to provide additional specialist coaching opportunities for our athletes. More information will be published as dates and sessions are finalised.
