Brian and partner Mon are marathon runners. When I am working with my Saturday morning group , Brian, Mon and a group of them go for a run. I admired Brian’s tee shirt this morning and at the end of my group session as I was packing up, Mon approached me and gave me a new tee shirt identical to Brian’s. How nice is that? Brian and yours truly in our shirts. I love it, we have some beautiful people in the world.

Early risers for exercise
As I walked along the beachfront the other morning around dawn, I wondered about the swimmers' mindset as they waded in. The weather is warming up, but the water is still cold and not particularly enticing, at least to me.
I couldn't help but admire those who push themselves to get up early and get their daily dose of exercise. My own experience with my various exercise groups has always intrigued and interested me regarding how some prefer to wake early to exercise, rather than enjoy the comfort of their warm bed a little longer.
As a personal trainer, getting up early is part of the job. Like anyone who starts work early, we just do it.
It is a choice to get up early and exercise, and some of you even pay for it with gym memberships and the like, so it is interesting to hear what people think about early exercise sessions, particularly during winter.
So here are a few of my anecdotal findings from my time as a personal trainer, in no specific order.
Having a supportive group to exercise with is important; this builds a sense of esprit de corps and belonging. Early morning exercise before the day commences is seen as a bonus and one of the few times available to most busy people.
A scenic view or natural surroundings is also seen as a benefit for early risers, with fresh air, although gym-goers love the quiet of an early morning and machine availability.
A trusted motivational coach or instructor is an important aspect, as is a program that is beneficial to your requirements. Fun and enjoyment, along with variety and a social aspect associated with exercise, can add to the attraction. So, there you have it, or some of it anyway.
Does it matter if you exercise early or late? No, of course not; it all depends on personal circumstances and your own approach to your overall health and wellness.
Life is movement; keep moving.

Proud oldies post. Our youngest, Daniel won his division at Brazilian Ju Jitsu yesterday on the Sunshine Coast, and we were lucky enough to be there, and in Sydney our son in law Leo-Paul completed his first marathon. Great stuff boys.
