This year’s NAIDOC theme is, The Next Generation: Strength, Vision & Legacy.
For me, that means literally teaching Little Drifters some moves and grooves to Deadly songs with a good beat (ous ous).
I’ve witnessed the Strength dancing can give to a group of Drifters or a solo Drifter. How one can change from walking into class to leaving with a higher frequency.
I love sharing my Vision for a dance with people in the workshop. I love seeing that vision portrayed in the Little Drifters own way and how it comes to life.
I believe Legacy can be passed on in many forms. From teaching dance moves, choreographing in ways to connect people, installing respectful ways in class and not taking it all so seriously. I hope the ripple effect of Good Spirit from a dance class with me impacts the Little Drifters, the parents, grandparents and caregivers that attend workshops.
Cue the music 🎶 “Clap your hands and dance!” 👏🏾
