Purely for passion and sharing what I love to learn about while I’m on maternity leave.

Sharing education on the things that really matter and trying to bring awareness to the importance of not just ‘calories’ but health in our foods and why it is so important that our choices surround nourishment to our bodies and our kids bodies.

In an Instagram world where there is a million influencers sharing their breakfast that looks like an incredible idea because they look amazing, I want to bring more education to nourishment and eating for our health, longevity and hormones.

If there is anything that you would like to know more on I’d love suggestions.
I will only ever share what I know, science is never proven but there is a hell of a lot more backing in research for what we have eaten as humans for thousands of years over our modern societies habits with processed foods, accessibility and refined sugars and preservatives.

A new edition to the gym.
Who would’ve thought 4 mats from Bunnings and some old weights for the lockdown sessions would’ve led to a full gym kit out and operating a home studio!

7 YEARS OF THE BASE PT 🤩
Whilst this is the least operational I’ve ever been (maternity leave) I love looking at how far this 1st baby of mine has come.
From a little dream at 20, through different gyms, a pandemic, lockdowns, online coaching, a baby of my own and opening our own home studio.
A little reflection if you’re new here for just how far this business has came and here’s to looking into the future at where we can go next 🥂

1. World Gym, my first official PT role.
2. Our first singlets when I decided to stop working for the gym, start The Base PT and run my own business instead (that was scary)
3. Coaching my classes at CrossFit Deck, where we operated from for 3 years, coaching CrossFit and 1:1 PTs (beautiful memories 🥰)
4. When my clients planned a surprise 3rd birthday for my business and all turned up with presents and food for my lunch break 🥹 (still get teary about how beautiful this was)
5. Lockdown One: when restrictions lifted and I trained my clients from my mums garage.
6. The gals infront of my fresh logo ❤️
7. Working through the pandemic with those stupid masks and thinking how dumb this will seem in 10 years, I didn’t need 10 years it was dumb at the time.
8. In our garage studio with my logo behind me - Matty surprised me after a rough couple of lockdown months and organised for this to be painted for me but I got to design it ❤️
9. Our slow season - with my baby boy by my side until he’s a bit bigger and I take on more clients (missing it but also loving these times with my boy)

For everyone over the last 7 years who’s been in a class, PT, online, purchased an ebook, purchased merch, just shared a post - Thankyou for always supporting.
- A gal living her dream.

WHAT IS IN YOUR TAP WATER:
The quality of your water is so important and if you are not already filtering your tap water…you should.

As you know we require water literally to survive so it makes sense that the quality of our water also has a huge impact on our health.

Whilst we are fortunate to live in our country where we don’t get sick from running water, it does however contain chemicals and compounds that can be toxic from our modern industry.

Think of fluoride that is added (recent studies show it’s actually not good for our health, farming runoff from agriculture and what is sprayed on crops etc (whole different topic), airborne pollution, pharmaceutical drugs that make their way into our water ways …the list could go on but you get the point.

Which is why I say it’s important to filter your water, you can also purchase filters for your shower so that the same toxins aren’t being consumed through the pores of our skin.

Drink your water, drink GOOD water.

I read this today.

My god did it hit hard.

If you’ve ever heard the phrase ‘choose your hard’.
This is exactly why…nothing is easy.
Life isn’t easy.

Getting up early to train before my son wakes up isn’t what I’d prefer to be doing at 4.30am, but I choose that over not training, because losing my fitness would be harder.

Spending time preparing meals instead of fast food isn’t fun, but feeling like 💩 is harder.

Having discipline doesn’t come easy, but feeling chaotic would be harder.

Either way, you will find a struggle.
But if you choose your struggle, you will also find reward.

Signing up to an online program is super simple - but incase you’ve been wondering here is the process.

Starting a new program can seem overwhelming or finally sending that message to a trainer to enquire.
I’ve been there, I know how it feels.

However I also know what lays on the other side of your comfort zone…the BEST things.

A common trend that we see is IIFYM.
(If it fits your macros)
I’m absolutely for this if you’d like to count calories and not eat the same thing everyday, in fact eating the same thing everyday is how we begin to develop food allergies (not intolerances, that’s different).

Here’s we’re IIFYM goes incredibly wrong.
Just because it’s ‘low cal’ or fits into your calories does not mean it is nutritious or good for you.
Refund sugar, vegetable and seed oils, preservatives can all easily fit into foods that aren’t calorie dense, but all of which are incredibly poor for your overall health and well-being.

Keep in mind when choosing foods that fit into your calories that you are not just checking the macros and calories but also the ingredients.
What we put into our bodies should not just be defined by numbers/amounts.

An example as a reference for this common trend is the biscoff wheetbix breakfast that’s currently trending on social media.
You are literally gaining no nutrients from this.

Remember that nothing beats whole foods, knowing what’s in your foods and taking responsibility for what you actually put into your body.
