Robinson Creek runs through the centre of Tumoulin National Park. It can be crossed at three points. There are some great little swimming spots, that even at this time of year contain nice cold water. Can be ridden either way, but I prefer to ride out of town, and turn into the forest on Robinson Creek road just before the bridge.
First crossing is a couple of km's from here. Just after the crossing, turn right for the climb up Settlers Track. After about 3km there's an Ergon sign on the right, this track leads to a really fast downhill to the second crossing, some good swimming holes just downstream.. Then follow the power line track for a few hundred metres, and turn right onto White Stringy track. This brings you to the intersection with Percy track, and the third crossing, which is a great place to sit for a while.

This round trip from Ravenshoe starting on flour dust track, on to Mays Break, then Condon and Poletti road. Then into the little used north part of Tumoulin forest, using Toohey and Coolabbi tracks. This crosses the Millstream, which although only knee deep, can have a bit of force behind it. Them Mckenzie Falls road, which you can turn off to visit the falls. A great 2km downhill down Allens Road, then Robinson creek road back into Ravenshoe.

A loop of Ravenshoe and Tumoulin. There are many tracks that lead off from this loop to make a longer ride.

Mays Break south to north. This is a tougher track. Track quite steep in and out of Archers creek, and fairly loose and rocky, but well worth the effort. As a loop its best to ride down the highway from Ravenshoe as it's mostly downhill and pretty fast.

In the land of the Giants. Where Robinson creek crosses Percy track. Probably the tallest trees in the National park and a beautiful place to sit and take it all in.

I seem to have missed this announcement in July. Had noticed the new signs popping up over the last couple of weeks. Not a bad thing for the forest, but seems to have been little publicised locally?

Grant Track. This track is a beauty, very quiet and little used. Usually ridden as part of a loop to McKenzie falls , but well worth riding just on its own. Passes through a conservation area of old growth wet sclerophyll forest. Its's a decent track and can be ridden quite fast, particularly south to north from Smith road, but it's worth stopping and looking around and listening to the bird song.
If riding as a loop be aware that it crosses the Millstream at the end, which will mean wet feet. After a good rain it can be quite a strong flow there.

Settlers Track in Tumoulin forest is always a pleasant ride. 5km of steady uphill if ridden from the Ravenshoe end, or a fast downhill if ridden from the top at Smiths road. In reasonably good condition.

Hadn't been this way for a while, but was pleasantly surprised to find that Allens road from Mckenzie falls road junction to Robinson creek road has been freshly graded. This has made it 2.2km of super fast downhill. In fact it's that good that I rode back up so I could come back down again. Hit 54km/hr. Did attempt a "don't touch the brakes" challenge, but chickened out on one bend!

Quite possibly the fastest and smoothest downhill on the tablelands at the moment. Get down it before the wet season!

A nice detour around some of the state forest near Ravenshoe is the Ergon access/Power line track. I find it best accessed off Settlers track and heading North to south. If you come down Settlers from Allens / Smith road, you'll see an Ergon sign on your left. Follow this for a great downhill to where it crosses Robinson creek, which is a great place to stop and paddle.
From her there's a sharp climb which brings you out on the power line track. Head due south towards Ravenshoe. You'll see the turning for white Stringy track further down on your right. This takes you back into the forest tracks. There are other tracks around the power lines which are worth exploring.
