COME & TRY / TRIALS – DATE CHANGE
Just a reminder, especially for anyone who may not have received our email, that our Come & Try / Trials have been pushed back one week.
Monday 21 September & Wednesday 23 September
If you haven’t submitted an EOI, that’s completely fine. Please still come along and see us on the day. There is no need to contact the club beforehand, just turn up at the appropriate session time.
Session Times
4:30–5:15pm – MiniRoos (U8–U11)
5:30–6:15pm – Junior Competition (U12–U15)
6:30–7:30pm – Senior Competition (U16–U18)
Day 1 will include a range of drills so we can see how players respond to coaching, instruction and direction. It also gives families a chance to see how the program will operate and what we expect from players and parents.
Day 2 will be more game-based, giving us an opportunity to see players in match situations, how they respond under pressure and how they work within a team.
It’s important to remember that this is not an elite program designed to produce future Socceroos. This is a Westlakes Wildcats development pathway that fits who we are as a club.
Our Community teams remain the core of Westlakes Wildcats, and there is absolutely nothing wrong with playing Community football. Some age groups may not have the numbers or level required for a Development team in 2027, and in those cases that age group will remain Community.
The aim of the Development option is simply to provide another pathway for players who want a little more training and development while remaining at Westlakes with their friends, families and club, rather than feeling they need to leave for JDL, PYL or other development systems.
Above everything else, we still want our kids and parents to enjoy their football and have fun at Westlakes.
We look forward to seeing everyone on the 21st and 23rd September.
