We are incredibly proud to share that The Old Station Air Show has been named the 2026 Gladstone Region Community Event 🏆

This award belongs to every volunteer, community group, sponsor, attendee and supporter who has poured their time, energy and heart into this event over the years. What began as a community fundraiser has grown into something far bigger than we ever imagined, and that is entirely thanks to the people who stand behind it.

To be recognised at a regional level for the impact our event continues to have on our community is both humbling and deeply meaningful. Thank you to Gladstone Regional Council and to our community for believing in this event and the purpose behind it — we are so proud to represent you. ❤️✈️

It is truely a great honour to be named the 2026 Gladstone Region Community Event at tonight’s Australia Day Awards.

Our event was founded in 1989 as a fundraiser for the Royal Flying Doctor Service and through the years we have stayed true to our roots, donating the proceeds from our event back into the community that supported us. Our event would not be what it is without the volunteers and community groups that volunteered their time over the course of the event’s weekend. Knowing that in 2025 we were able to make the biggest donation in our event’s history was all the recognition we needed, but to know that the community saw the impact we made and nominated our event for this award fills our hearts with so much joy and brings a tear our eye.

So from the bottom of our hearts, THANK YOU to the Gladstone community and Gladstone Regional Council for naming us the 2026 Gladstone Region Community Event ❤️

Congratulations to our 2026 Gladstone Region Community Event Award recipient The Old Station Air Show

This award recognises an event that brings our community together on a truly grand scale. The Old Station Air Show continues to deliver pride, connection and lasting community benefit.

The Sport Aircraft Association of Australia did a marvellous job marshalling all 252 aircraft that attended our 2025 event, we cannot wait to have them on board again in 2028 to keep the aircraft rolling in fast and smooth 🛬🛫

✈️ Grateful Recognition at The Old Station Airshow 🌟

Over the weekend, SAAA President, Myles Breitkreutz had the privilege of attending a meeting at The Old Station Flying Club to discuss the fly-in held back in May. This was a truly memorable gathering that brought together passionate aviators, volunteers, and supporters from across the region and other states. We were deeply honoured to receive a certificate of appreciation and a generous donation in recognition of our contribution to the event.

“These gestures mean a great deal—not just personally, but as a reflection of the collaborative spirit that keeps our aviation community thriving.” said Myles “SAAA have been asked to input and participate in the May 2028 event. I am humbled and so very thankful to the SAAA team that has earnt the respect from the organisers of the biggest GA private Fly-in in the Southern Hemisphere”.

Thank you to The Old Station Flying Club for the kind acknowledgment, and to everyone who helped make the fly-in and Airshow such a success.

Here’s to safe skies and strong community! 🛩️💙

𝗧𝗛𝗔𝗡𝗞 𝗬𝗢𝗨 𝗧𝗢 𝗢𝗨𝗥 𝗩𝗢𝗟𝗨𝗡𝗧𝗘𝗘𝗥𝗦

The Old Station Air Show simply would not be possible without our volunteers.

This year, over 400 volunteers gave their time, energy, and passion to make the 2025 show our biggest and most successful yet. From parking cars and flipping burgers to keeping crowds safe and aircraft moving — every single moment depended on the dedication of individuals and community groups who believe in what this event stands for.

We’re incredibly proud to announce that, thanks to your efforts, we’ve been able to donate a total of $150,000 back into our broader local community. This support was distributed across 12 community groups and 2 life-saving charities who helped bring the event to life.

Community Groups:
Whitsundays Australian Air Force Cadets – 110 Squadron
The Historical Motor Cycle Club of Queensland – Gladstone Branch
Bajool State School P&C
Raglan Rural Fire Brigade
Sport Aircraft Association of Australia
Mt Larcom & Calliope Police Services
Yarwun State School P&C
Ambrose State School P&C
Raglan Target Sports Association
State Emergency Services (SES)
Mt Larcom QCWA
Rotary Club of Gladstone

Charities:
Royal Flying Doctor Service
CapRescue

In addition to the main proceeds, an extra $2,700 was donated directly to CapRescue by Dale and his incredible crew, who worked tirelessly all weekend to keep the grounds clean and tidy. They personally collected 27,000 10c cans/bottles across the event — a massive effort that turned rubbish into a meaningful contribution for our local rescue helicopter service.

These organisations are the beating heart of our region — serving, educating, protecting, and supporting our communities in ways both seen and unseen. It is our absolute privilege to give back to them.

We look forward to seeing everyone at the next The Old Station Air Show .... keep your eyes peeled, we will be announcing the date of the next event very soon

✈️ 𝙊𝙪𝙧 𝘽𝙞𝙜𝙜𝙚𝙨𝙩 𝘽𝙞𝙧𝙙 𝙔𝙚𝙩!✈️

This year, history was made at The Old Station Air Show.

For the first time ever, we welcomed the C-160 Transall — the largest aircraft to ever touch down on our 2000m unsealed grass/dirt airstrip!

Used by the German military, the Transall is a twin-engine tactical transport aircraft known for its versatility and rugged performance. It’s now being repurposed as a firefighting aircraft by McDermott Aviation Group.

Seeing this absolute unit of a machine roll in on our humble bush strip was nothing short of spectacular.

This milestone shows just how far our little patch of dirt has come — from hosting small GA aircraft to welcoming international military legends.

Is there anything bigger that could land here? 𝘔𝘢𝘺𝘣𝘦 — but for now the Transall holds the record as our biggest visitor yet.

Thanks to the crew for their skill, precision, and for sharing this incredible aircraft with all of us.

📸 Got shots of the Transall? Tag us — we’d love to see your angle!
