Welcome to this week’s Bowls Report

Last Saturday afternoon 14 players enjoyed a game of social bowls on a sunny winter’s day. The green was playing quite quick
even after the beautiful rain of the last few weeks. Two games of three bowl pairs over 25 ends and a game of three bowl triples over 18 ends were played. The results of the games were Andy Stackman & Garry Jones defeated Tracy Gooch & Michael Pryor 31-18. Sue Kent & Hudson Pryor prevailed in a great game against Dave Rodgers & Daniel Crockatt 23-22. In the game of triples Tony Kubica, Darren Rumbel & William Lee defeated Steve Crane, Kay Brennan-Lee & Kerry Sweep 25-14.The winners of the day on 21 points were Tony, Darren & William and runners-up on 20 points were Andy & Garry.

The Club Championship’s commence this Saturday June 13 with the first round of the Minor Singles. In the first game Tony Kubica will play Terry Beresford and in the second Steve Crane takes on Kay Brennan-Lee. The second round will take place on Saturday June 20.

Nominations are now open for the Club Four’s closing on Saturday 20th June. The first round will be Saturday June 27th and the second round Sunday June 28th.

After the very welcome rain last week there were no social bowls played last Wednesday. Social bowls are played each Wednesday morning weather permitting - please arrive by 9:45am for a 10am start.

Leonie Coxon was not in the Club last Friday evening so missed the Badge Draw. This week’s draw starts at $660. The 100 Club winners were Brad Porter, Andy Stackman & Alex Greig.

Saturday’s Horse Tipping’s Competition was won by Glenn Croucher with 13 points. This week’s jackpot is $110.

Welcome to this week’s Bowls Report
Although it was a chilly day last Saturday for the visit from the Newcastle Travellers, it was still an enjoyable one. Two rounds of bowls were played, including four triples games and one pairs game. Prizes were decided by drawing names from a hat, making bowls the real winner on the day. Despite the cold weather, everyone had a great time.
On Wednesday 27 May, seven bowlers turned out for a game of Fours. Andy Stackman played swinging lead, first with Suzi Sultania, Sue Kent and Dave Rodgers, and then with Tracey Gooch, Kerry Sweep and John Van Eekert. John’s team won 16–9.
The AGM will be held on 16 August, and nominations will open in the coming months. As several long-serving directors retire, the club is seeking new committee members. If you are interested in becoming a Club Director, you will need to be prepared to contribute to the ongoing running of the club. Aside from the bar staff, cleaner and part-time greenkeeper, the club relies on volunteers to maintain the greens, machinery, grounds, gardens and the many indoor tasks that keep everything operating.
Nominations for the Minor Singles close this Saturday, 6 June. The first round will be played on Saturday, 13 June, with the second round scheduled for the following weekend.
A few events to remember coming up over the next few months: President’s Day on 22 August, Past President’s Day on 21 November, and our annual October Triples Carnival on Saturday 3 and Sunday 4 of the long weekend.
Robert Patterson was the lucky winner of last Friday’s Members Draw. This week’s draw starts at $550. The 100 Club winners were Pam Tanner, Harvey McVicar and Bob Mills, while Steve Holloway and Troy Goodwin won the 50 Club. Alan Shaw and Carol Abra won the End-of-the-Month draw.
Saturday’s Horse Tipping’s Competition was won by Glen Croucher with 15 points. This week’s Jackpot is $100.

Welcome to this Week’s Bowls Report
We had clear weather for our annual May Open Triples two-day Carnival last weekend with twenty-six teams participating with entertainment from Steve Crane on Saturday evening.
Teams came from North and South to participate with too many to mention in case I miss someone. But it was good to see the boys from Lowood back again after a lengthy spell.
• Best Performed on Saturday with three wins + twenty-seven – Lowood team, A Mitchell, K MacNamara and J Harrison.
• Best Performed on Sunday with one win, one draw + nineteen - South Tamworth/Quirindi composite, S Sweeney, M Woods and B Hartin.
• Fourth place with four wins + thirty – Quirindi’s B Picton, J Van Eekert & M Pryor. Tied with third place resulting on a count back of thirty-seven against.
• Third Place on four wins + thirty, with a count back of thirty-six against – G Wilson, S Drummond and D Saeger from Teralba.
• Second place with five wins + thirty-eight – Teralba team M Harwood, M Speerin and A Harwood.
• First place went to composite team R Sweep – Quirindi, J Coombes – Barraba and R Winsor – Teralba on five wins + forty-three.
Congratulations to all the winners and a huge thank you to all the teams for joining us last weekend. Thank you also to the many volunteers who took the time to make the weekend a success. Thank you to the bar staff, Wendy and Andrew who prepared lunch on both days.

This Saturday 30 May, we are hosting our Friendship Games with Newcastle. The day begins with a relaxing BBQ lunch from 12pm followed by bowls. We are still taking names up until Saturday, so if you would like to participate, put your name up on the board in the Club.
Club Championships are now on the calendar, and the Minor Singles nominations are still open and close on Saturday 6 June with the first-round set for Saturday 13 June and the second round the following weekend.
It was the boys against the girls for Wednesday bowls last week with Andy Stackman, Dave Rodgers and Andrew Williams up against Tracey Gooch, Suzi Sultania and Kerry Sweep. Power to the girls as they defeated the boys sixteen to seven.
Laurel Burraston was not in the Club last Friday evening so missed the Badge Draw. It remains at $1000 this week. Steve Crane, Mark Rodgers and Helen Winters were the winners in the 100 Club.
Mick Perkins and Kerrie Fuller scored thirteen points each in the horse tipping competition on Saturday. The Jackpot this week is $90.

Quirindi’s Grade 7 Open Gender Pennant Team’s journey came to an end last weekend after two comfortable wins on Saturday against Inverell RSM and Armidale City then losing to South Tamworth by six shots on Sunday. We put up a good fight and made them earn their place at State. Good luck moving forward. Congratulations to the teams and selector Christie on a successful season.
The individual scores for each game are: - Quirindi v Inverell RSM
• A Stackman, D Rumbel, J Roberts & B Picton scored 24-12 against T Halloran, R Berger, B Hagan & R Dengate.
• B Hutchinson, M Tanner, B Hartin & P Webb defeated R Field, G Thom, R Hazell & D McMahon 26-12.
• A Minett, W Lee, M Woods & P Picton won 27-11 over B Turner, P Duff, J Buxton & D Hickey. Master Board score – Quirindi 77, Inverell RSM 35.

• K Brennan-Lee, D Rumbel, J Roberts & B Picton defeated T Vestergual. B Wadley, A Carey & T Ogilvie 29-19.

• A Minett, W Lee, M Woods & P Picton were the victors to P Clarke, G Jackson, D Rictor and L Robinson 27-5. Master Board score – Quirindi 82, Armidale City 45.

• A Stackman, D Rumbel, J Roberts & B Picton lost 17-19 to I Harriett, A Maquire, G. Cheney & R Lasitis.
• B Hutchinson, M Tanner, B Hartin & P Webb were defeated by S. Mitchell, G Propsting, V Thomson & J Stuart 14-16.
• A Minett, W Lee, M Woods & P Picton 16 lost to M Handley, N Edgar, J Pizzutti & B Walker 18. Master Board – Quirindi 47, South Tamworth 53. Close games all.
Sue Kent played swinging lead in a game of Fours last Wednesday to Andy Stackman, Dean Boles & Steve Henderson then to Dave Rodgers, Kerry Sweep and Bob Hartin with Bob’s team winning 16-9.
Two newcomers to the game joined in another game of Triples with Toni Reid leading for Margo Gileppa & John Van Eekert then Tracey Gooch played lead to Suzi Sultania and Andrew Williams. Both ladies enjoyed their first game, and we look forward to seeing them back on the green. The end score was Andrew 19, John 4.
This weekend we host our annual May Triples Carnival on both Saturday and Sunday. Five games will be played commencing at 9am on both days. Three games of 12 ends on Saturday and two games of 10 ends on Sunday. Prizes will be awarded to 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th as well as Best Performed on Saturday and Sunday. As Helen Passfield was not in the Club last Friday evening, the Members Draw was not won and remains at $1000 this week. John Riley, Christie Pryor and Bronwen Bailey were the winners in the 100 Club.
We had three winners in the Horse Tipping Competition last Saturday. Kay Ryman, Michael Pryor and Michael Perkins scored 9 points each. This week’s Jackpot is $80.

Ten bowlers participated in Wednesday morning’s games, with one triples match and one pairs match played. In the triples, Andy Stackman, Mick Tanner and Bob Hartin competed against Dean Boles, Andrew Williams and John Van Eekert, with John Van Eekert’s team securing a close 14–11 win.
The pairs match saw Ida Strichen and Dave Rodgers take on Susi Sultania and Sue Kent. Susi Sultania and Sue Kent won a tightly contested game, 15–13.
Pennant practice was well attended, with Open Gender bowlers playing in their usual positions and delivering strong performances overall. Two triples games were played. In the first, Tony Kubic, William Lee and John Van Eekert faced Michael Pryor, Kay Brennan Lee and Daniel Crockatt. Daniel Crockatt’s team played consistently well, with Michael Pryor providing valuable tactical practice by varying mat placement. They maintained control throughout the game to record a 24–15 win.
In the second match, Adam “Sharky” Minett, Darren Rumbel and Hudson Pryor played against Andy Stackman, Mick Tanner and Bob Hartin. Despite a solid effort from Hudson Pryor’s team, Bob Hartin’s side proved too strong, winning 25–7.
The Grade 7 Open Gender Pennant team will compete at Tamworth City Bowling Club on Saturday 16 May and Sunday 17 May against Inverell, Armidale and South Tamworth. Saturday’s matches commence at 9:00 am (roll-up 8:45 am) against Inverell and at 1:00 pm (roll-up 12:45 pm) against Armidale. Sunday’s match against South Tamworth begins at 9:00 am, with roll-up at 8:45 am. A successful result will see Quirindi qualify for the State competition in August. Good luck to all teams.
The Members Badge Draw was not won last Friday as Sandy Patton was not in the Club. The draw remains at $1000. The 100 Club winners were William Lee, Mick Tanner and Lorraine Schmitzer. The Mother’s Day raffle winners were Marcie McNeill, Katrina Freeburn, Kerrie Fuller and Ken Judson.
Wayne Fuller was the winner in the Horse Tipping Competition with 14 points. This week’s Jackpot is $70.

We have been advised by North West Bowls that this weekends Men's Pennant Play off's in both divisions have been postponed until the 30-31st May -as soon as we receive further information I will forward that on to you - next weekend's Grade 7 play off's on the 16th & 17th are still going ahead as scheduled
