What is Women's Trail Day and why?
It's a global celebration of women hitting the trails together — to connect, to enjoy, and to champion female participation in trail running. Led by

It’s about coming together for a shared moment on the trails.

It’s not about racing, there aren’t bibs, or timing chips. Just movement. On the trails. With other women.

This is for those who regularly run on the trails. And it's also for those yet to discover the magic of trail running. Bring them along!

This Volunteer Week, we’re celebrating the people who make what we do possible 🙏

Across DIVERGE, Kunanyi Mountain Run and Kunanyi Trail Series, our volunteers are the heart of every event 🫶

They do the early mornings, the course marking and marshalling, the flask top-ups and hugs at aid stations, and capturing your event photos.

We might be biased but our participants don't have to be. And yet, they tell us time and time again:

💚"Amazing volunteers"

💚"The vibe of the voluneers was incredible"

💚"It has to be the hardest race I’ve ever done but when every volunteer I met gave me a big smile and cheered me on and it made me feel like I could keep pushing.”

💚"The volunteers are the highlight of the event - it felt like a very high ratio of volunteers to runners meaning there were always people to ask questions and help out."

💚"The volunteers were so phenomenal. I had no idea what I was doing at the aid stations and yet a volunteer was always there and ready to help. I've never felt so quickly part of a community."

This doesn’t happen by accident. It comes from a community of passionate, generous people who show up. Year after year. Event after event. Helping us create unforgettable experiences on the trails of Tasmania.

Whether you’ve handed out lollies at an aid station, swept a course, checked runners in, cleaned toilets, captured photos, designed our websites, or simply shared a smile on a tough day: thank you.

🙏🙏🙏You are a huge part of our community.

Hundreds of hours of hard trail work was worth it. You loved the Lyell-Comstock rail formation that we re-claimed from the bush.

But it was never just about event weekend. We wanted to re-make the way for the community to enjoy year round.

And they’ve already started coming to do just that.

The work was not possible without our supporters, like WRE, who get exactly why we do it.

“WRE is supporting the DIVERGE Skyruns because it reflects our values that the benefits of energy projects should be felt locally. This event brings people to the West Coast, supports local business and builds momentum in the region. That aligns with WRE values: ensuring the benefits are shared by the community over time.”

DIVERGE was about stepping away from the ordinary. It was also about stepping away from the ordinary race medal.

Each of ours has a story. Here they are.

The Lynchford Express 5km
~part of a sleeper from the

Mt Lyell Skyrun 50km
~ King Billy pine. Their skeletons are prevalant across Mt Lyell. We've yet to see any living King Billys on the mountain. These pines are a living relic of Gondwana. But on the West Coast, they've been lost to loggers, fires and mining.

Mt Owen Skyrun 25km
~ Owen conglomerate. This striking dark purple sandstone has veins of quartzite. This rock forms the exposed backbone to some of Tasmania’s major mountain ranges. As it does on the West Coast Range.

Little Owen Trail 15km
~ Striking white quartzite. Sourced from the foot of Little Owen spur.

Airfield 5km and 10km
~ Silt stone from Howard's Plains. Right next to the Queenstown Airfield.

You've literally taken a piece of the West Coast with you. May it stay with you. Just as the DIVERGE experience will have.

We owe the biggest thanks to local artist Brian Tisdall for his work producing the medals and trophies. And Ian Bradshaw from Pioneer Timber Traders. Who tonated speciality timber for the medals, and our trophies.

You headed for the ridgelines and the trails at .skyruns. And the kids had an adventure of their own.

Our complimentary Kids Drop-Off was a huge success. The kids explored, created and built, under the care of experienced nature-play educators from .

And then they didn’t want to leave when parents returned from the wild.

It was only made possible because of the support of . Thank you for believing in the vision.

We knew it would be big. We expected it to take you outside your comfort zone. It did all that and more.

You chose to step away from the ordinary. What a wild ride.

Let’s do it all again in 2027. Dates to be announced later this month.

There’s nothing like crossing the finish line. Especially one that’s quite literally carrying the stories and histories of this place. Have you ever seen a finish arch quite like this?

Thank you to those who made it possible:
Ian Bradshaw | Pioneer Timber Traders
Brian Tisdall l local artist and legend volunteer
Brett Klyszejko | Arch creative designer and carpenter
Lincoln Quilliam | Arch Project Manager and builder

Out to the edge. The Iron Blow lookout. You stopped to peer down into Tasmania's tortured mining history.

A reminder of what’s been taken, and what remains of the open cut mine.

And now you've been part of its future. Skyrunning and trail running on the West Coast.
