The Academy teaches a practical, non-competitive martial art to people of all ages with an emphasis on Self Defence. The techniques taught use an attacker's strength to a defender's advantage. These def

ensive strategies aim to initially evade, disable and finally immobilise an attacker. The syllabus includes the teachings of Jishukan Ryu 自修館流 (Jujitsu-Kempo founded by Shuho Sugita 1947); Judo 柔道 (founded by Jigoro Kano 1882), Boxing and aspects of modern Jujitsu. Classes are conducted in a semi-formal environment. The aim is for students to enjoy themselves while improving personal skills such as coordination, reflexes, physical fitness, self control and self esteem. The Academy Motto is "Be Master of yourself"

The Academy holding a Master Class training event for all Instructors and Senior members. This session is a great opportunity to ensure that our standards remain uniform across all branches. We will be covering both fundamentals and various parts of the grading syllabus.
