Lynne Curtis O.A.M
The Werribee Victorian Clay Target Club is proud to announce our second recipient of the Order Of Australia medal to the now Lynne Curtis O.A.M, aka "Pup"
The Order of Australia recognises Australians who have demonstrated outstanding service or exceptional achievement, a description that fits Pup to a tee.
Behind the scenes, Pup dedicated his life to our sport and has been recognised by the office of the Governor General for his significant contributions to the sport after one of our members nominated him for this prestigious award.
Over the past 3 years Pup's nomination has been circulating amongst various referees with all facts listed below, validated and investigated thoroughly. We understand that all referees who were contacted throughout the process fully supported the nomination with many of them giving statements of their own to help the nomination, to those people we extend our gratitude. We are also proud to share that Pups nomination was successful on the first, and only attempt.
The only thing that is missing from this piece of fantastic of news is a statement from Lynne Curtis O.A.M. What we can say without a doubt is the Pup would be incredibly honoured, grateful and would have tears of joy with a smile from ear to ear, a sight that will never fade from our memories.
Although Pups sporting achievements were put forward it was Pups volunteer work that ultimately led to the success of his O.A.M nomination.
Pup dedicated his life to giving back to our community. He never sought recognition, accolades or validation he just wanted to make our sport better for everyone to enjoy which is a legacy that still continues.
From the committee of the Werribee Victorian Clay Target Club, we congratulate Lynne Curtis O.A.M
