~ Vale Janet (Jan) Free ~

Jan was an icon of the Quambatook Netball Club. Having played all her Junior & Senior Basketball/Netball at Quamby, Jan was a spirited, competitive and tough player against the opposition.

Jan was an avid umpire, earning her C Grade badged, umpiring for the club and for the K&DNL during the finals. Furthermore, Jan held the position of Treasurer with the club for many years and was a member of the general committee.

Notably, Jan was the first person to be presented with a Life Membership to the QNC. Jan also recieved Life Membership to the K&DNL for her dedication to the league and service to their committee.

When Jan stopped playing and umpiring she still eagerly supported the club by scoring and helping out where needed.

Right up until the final year of QFNC, Jan was known by all our netballers for her kindness and friendly manner, she also took a keen interest in the football. Yes, she did have her favourite players, and goodness help the opposition if one of our players got hurt!

It is hard to believe that there would be a netballer that was in the K&DNL or GRNL that didn't know who Jan Free was.

She certainly loved her Saturdays at the footy.

As a tribute to Jan, we would encourage those playing this weekend to wear a black arm band in her honour or perhaps wear a Quamby jumper, scarve, beanie or shirt to your sporting commitments this weekend. 🔴⚪️⚫️

A Funeral Service for ‘Jan’ will be held at the Quambatook Co-Operating Parish Church on TUESDAY (17th June, 2025) commencing at 11:00am.

If you are attending please wear your Quamby colours 🔴⚪️⚫️.
