The original course designed by acclaimed architect and golfer Eric Apperly has been enhanced in recent years by designer Ross Watson. The well established and secluded bushland layout offers a challenge to all levels of golfing skill and the course is recognised as one of the best in Sydney and Australia. The fairways are surfaced with immaculate Santa-Ana couch which, combined with the relativel

y level topography, make Avondale an enjoyable walking course. The Par 71 course measures 6,059 metres from the black tees. A significant water supply, via an on-site dam, combined with a modern irrigation system, provides the ability tomaximise turf condition whilst responsibly managing this precious resource. To provide the best playing surfaces possible Avondale has invested significantly in state of the art course maintenance facilities and equipment. Environmental custodianship is a key focus and the course stewardship embraces the award winning E-Par environmental management systems.

The 2026 Oatlands Seniors Cup was contested on Tuesday 23 June, attracting an impressive field of 77 players representing more than 40 golf clubs.

With the course presented in excellent condition, competitors were treated to a challenging but enjoyable test as they vied for honours in Oatlands' premier senior event.

The Over 65s Gross title produced a thrilling finish, with Ken Brewer from Newcastle Golf Club claiming victory on a countback after carding a score of 77. Ken edged out Sam Quagliata, who also returned a fine round of 77, with the countback required to separate the pair.

In the main event, the prestigious Oatlands Seniors Cup, Scott Gresham from Avondale Golf Club produced the round of the day, recording an outstanding score of 72 to take home the trophy.

A special moment for one of our own. ⛳

From joining Avondale as a junior over seven years ago, through his scholarship years and rise as an elite amateur, Declan O’Donovan now steps onto the PGA Tour stage for the very first time at the RBC Canadian Open.

It’s been an incredible journey to watch unfold — and this week marks another huge milestone as he makes his PGA Tour professional debut among the world’s best.

Everyone at Avondale is incredibly proud of how far you’ve come, Declan, and we’ll be right behind you every step of the way.
