Week 2 of Grand Finals draws a conclusion to the GDSFA season in style with the division 1 finals being played at Melita Stadium on Saturday 5th.

Congratulations to all the teams and clubs on the day and a massive shout out to our referees on their performances, efforts and attitudes in the most demanding games of the season.

While this concludes the regular GDSFA season there’s still plenty of high stakes football to come for our members … bring on Champions of Champions

We recently held our 2026 Finals Seminar, bringing together our referees ahead of the Finals Series to set the standards and expectations for what promises to be an exciting few weeks of football.

This year’s seminar was made extra special as we celebrated an incredible milestone for one of our own.

2026 marks Jimmy Nicolaou’s 40th year of active service with GDSFA, with this Saturday’s Over 55s Grand Final set to be his final match as an active referee.

Jimmy is a familiar and highly respected face not only within the Granville community, but across the wider NSW football community. Over four decades, he has dedicated countless hours to the game, leaving an incredible legacy and making a lasting impact on generations of players, referees and clubs.

To recognise this remarkable achievement, we were honoured to present Jimmy with a commemorative jersey celebrating his 40 years of service. 👏

Now, we invite the entire football community to join us in celebrating Jimmy and his outstanding career.

Over the past month we have been involved in an amazing, first of its kind initiative with our family over at SGFRA Inc. which we called The Exchange.

Spread over 2 matchdays, we appointed referees to games within the Football St George PL1 and PLR and enjoyed St George referees on our XL fixtures.

This is the first of its kinda in local football and we hope to keep pioneering both within granville and with St George Referees as well as all our fellow referee associations within FNSW to give our members and fellow referee community opportunities which make us realise why we love what we do.

We would like to again thank our brothers and sisters at SGFRA for their support and efforts to start this initiative and hope that it is the start of a long and joyful partnership ❤️⚽️

A massive congratulations to another three of our referees Hussain Fiaze, Kristian McCann and Noor Muhammad Khan for representing both our Referee Association and the entire Granville District Soccer Football Association at the Football NSW State Cup Grand Finals held at Valentine Sports Park yesterday.

On behalf of GDFRA, our branch coaches James Makris and Isabella Vrtkovski are proud of the progression, commitment and attitude you three have put towards your refereeing journey. Keep it up boys!

We are proud to have represented not only our own Referee Association but also the entire Granville District Soccer Football Association at the Inaugural Association Championships held in Mudgee earlier this week. This tournament saw four committed individuals from GDFRA who represented their branch, their community and themselves incredibly.

A huge congratulations to our referees Scarlett Neculman, Jana D’Souza and Reuben Borg, supported by FNSW referee coach Isabella Vrtkovski, for their efforts and participation across all three match days.
