Hi, I’m Renée 👋

We deliver trauma-informed yoga (private & public classes) and trauma-informed practice education. I lead 1:1 / private yoga classes online and in person in Ocean Grove, Victoria. My qualifications:
I am Western Victoria's only TCTSY-F Yoga Facilitator - this is the original Trauma-Sensiti

ve Yoga studied by Bessel van der Kolk for PTSD, CPTSD and Chronic stress, as discussed in his book 'The Body Keeps the Score. I lead in person workshops in various locations & online, and also teach informed yoga facilitation at both Zero Point Yoga Teacher Training School in Ocean Grove & the Australian Yoga Academy in Melbourne. You don't need to be able to 'do' any yoga at all to be able to benefit from trauma-informed practice. I am a big believer in accessibility and think the best practice is the one that works for you. All bodies/abilities are welcome - please head to my website for more information or to book in a 1:1 yoga class with me.

It’s Winter (!.) and the start of Pride Month 🏳️‍🌈

To every one of my LGBTQI+ friends and family: I see you, I love you, and you make the world a better place.

Loving you means wanting you safe, in every workplace and community space you walk into. That is what my work is for. Person-centred, trauma-informed practice is how I believe we can get there.

Because understanding that safety feels different in every body, and that how others treat us, like homophobia has a real impact. Building safety builds interoception, our connection to our physical and emotional state. As both grow, spaces become more psychologically safe. More people feel included. More collaboration and creativity happens. People bring more of themselves, because less of them is bracing for harm.

When we grow up in a world, family or community that doesn’t accept us for who we are it can be so easy for shame and self-hatred to take hold. Even years down the track when it seems like we have everything together it can still be there, lurking.

Upcoming workshop in Ocean Grove with - love you to join us on Saturday 6 June for 3 hours on all things trauma-aware, and trauma-informed yoga.

Not just a workshop - we’ll start with a grounding before discussing how trauma (and chronic stress - and a bunch of other things) can influence our brain/body connection.

Minimal jargon and no need to share anything personal - my workshops are all choice, no obligation - sitting back and receiving without sharing is always welcome.

Love you to join us - all details to book are in my bio. Feel free to dm any questions.

An easy way to make any yoga class more trauma aware? Consider how you announce where you are in the room - to give space and consideration to nervous systems that might be heightened.
Some people may experience more of a startle / fright response than others. This of course is just one of the many ways we can “pull” our participants out of their window of tolerance in their yoga practice.
An easy change of practice? Depending on how you teach (as there are many ways we do!) think about how and when your students expect you to move. How do they know where you are if they’re absorbed in their practice? Are there chances to create more certainty about where you are?

Should every yoga class and yoga teacher be trauma-informed.

Nope.

But it would be f-ing fantastic if more of us were trauma-aware.

Reason #367 why is about more than just leading trauma-informed yoga classes!!

If you’re keen on learning more check out the link in my bio for details of my upcoming teacher trainings and scholarships for all of my programs 💛

Ready to go deeper into trauma-aware and trauma-informed yoga facilitation? It looks different in every community, every studio, for every teacher - so I’m not here to hand you a formula and ask you to follow it blindly.

Drawing from the social model of disability, a trauma-informed perspective on health and healing and a healthy dose of lived-experience-inspired dry humour / I’d love you to join me.

Also with a fabulous guest lecture from neuro-affirming practice expert 🙌🏼

I thought it was time to reintroduce myself and share what I do alongside facilitating yoga and teacher training.

My work connects nervous system recovery with organisational design. I consult with boards and senior leadership teams to help embed trauma-informed principles into their systems and decision making.

These slides provide context on my research into organisational drift and why I view this work as a structural framework for performance.

Yesterday I had the privilege of spending the day with a room full of curious, open and kind humans at . We explored how trauma and chronic stress show up on the mat, and why that understanding matters for all of us, not just those working in clinical spaces or teaching specifically trauma-informed yoga.

Being back at AYA felt like coming home in the best way. The conversations, the questions, the willingness people brought to sitting with complexity - it’s always a beautiful group.

I’ll be returning in July/August to lead my 30-hour Trauma-Informed Yoga Teacher Training, and I’m looking forward to it more than I can say.

We’ve also just released two fully paid scholarships for that program. They’re designed for anyone with financial barriers to accessing this kind of professional training. If that’s you, or someone you know, DM me or head to the link in bio for more information.

Trauma and chronic stress live in the body – and show up on the yoga mat.

Join me for a 3-hour workshop exploring how our nervous systems respond to challenge, and what that means for practice.

We'll cover foundational neurobiology, polyvagal theory, and practical regulation tools. Drawing on trauma-informed research, TSY principles, and the work of van der Kolk and others – this is a compassionate, evidence-based introduction to working with trauma and stress through yoga.

No disclosure needed. Just bring curiosity about the body-brain connection.

Sat 14 March | 10:30am–1:30pm | Melbourne

For practitioners, teachers, and anyone wanting to understand how the body holds what we've lived.

We’ve separated things that don’t function separately. Mind from body. Expertise from lived experience. Individual wellbeing from systemic health. Fragmentation is a trauma response, both individually and organisationally. When systems become overwhelming, we split off parts of experience to survive.

My work reconnects these fragments. In yoga facilitation that’s working with people individually, in yoga education, it means helping practitioners understand nervous system regulation alongside trauma-informed practices. In organisatins, it means helping leaders see how organisational design impacts psychosocial safety, performance, creativity and collaboration.
