Having spent 11 years in gyms throughout his home town of Warwick in South East Queensland and the Sunshine Coast, Matt has established himself as one of Sydney’s leading Personal Trainers. Finished today with these 2 amazing girls.
7 years ago they came to me not knowing much about training & nutrition, a little overweight and generally not feeling too good.
I’m proud of the fact they’re now more educated, have made huge lifestyle changes dropping around 18kgs, are so much happier, healthier and have become good friends.
Thanks for another cracking year!

Why did I do 500 burpees outside in 30 degree heat on my own?
Mental toughness.

Occasionally I like to throw myself in an environment that will test me mentally.
Doing 500 Burpees on your own in 30 degree heat with no one to push you will test you.
There’s no science behind it. Just honest hard work.

Mental toughness is a term used in psychology to refer to the resilience and strength that people possess to soldier through struggles and succeed.

When I was 14 I was obese. Only 5kg lighter than what I weigh today (85kg).
I remember my footy coach George McVeigh yelling in my ear while running up ‘heartbreak hill’...struggling for oxygen, heart about to jump out my throat, legs buckling and fighting that little voice in my head.
I’ve been back to that dark place many times since that day but yesterday’s session reminded me of that time in my life.
You get to a point where you zone out and go into your own little world. The music & noise in the room becomes near silent, your head feels like it’s on fire, legs are jelly, and you’re constantly gasping for a breath.
My sole focus was to do a job for my team. I had someone in my ear for the last part yesterday and it got me through just like my fat kid days at footy training back in Warwick.
These kind of sessions level you out, test your character and build resilience - what 98 GYM is all about.
Yesterday makes me want to work harder and get better. I want to be stronger!
I’ll put in the work and look forward to the next one with the 98 crew 🤜🏽🤛🏽
