💔 The hardest post we’ve ever had to write…
After a lot of tears, sleepless nights, conversations, and soul-searching, we have made the incredibly difficult decision to close Portland Bike & Skate at the end of this month.
Five years ago, we opened our doors with a dream. We wanted to create more than just a bike shop. We wanted to create a place where people could come for advice, support, a friendly chat, and to share a passion for riding and skating.
Over the years, we’ve watched kids get their very first bikes, seen riders progress and achieve amazing things, supported local events, celebrated successes, and built friendships that we’ll cherish forever.
Like many small family businesses, we’ve faced challenges along the way. Some people see the shop doors open each day, but they don’t always see the long hours, the sacrifices, the stress, the financial pressures, and the determination it takes to keep going. We gave this business everything we had because we genuinely loved being part of this community.
Making the decision to close has been heartbreaking. This business has been more than just our livelihood—it has been a huge part of our family’s life and identity for the last five years.
While this chapter is coming to an end, we want to focus on what we’re most grateful for: you.
To every customer who chose to shop local, every person who trusted us with their bike repairs, every family who purchased a bike from us, every BMX rider who proudly represented our shop, every kind word, recommendation, share, and message of support—thank you.
You helped keep our dream alive for five years, and for that we will be forever grateful.
Our final trading day will be 27/06/2026 . Until then, we’ll continue serving our customers and will be holding a closing-down sale.
Please drop in and say hello before we close our doors for the last time. We’d love the opportunity to thank you in person.
This isn’t the ending we hoped for, but we’re incredibly proud of what we’ve achieved and the community we’ve been privileged to be part of.
From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for supporting our little family business.
❤️ With love and gratitude,
Tim, Krystie & Family
