One unexpected thing about midlife:
You start noticing how much you've been carrying simply because you've always carried it. Everyone else's expectations.
Being the reliable one.
Being agreeable.
Being productive.
Keeping the peace.
Remembering everything.
Organising everybody.
Saying “I'm fine” because explaining why you're not feels like too much work.
And somewhere in this stage of life, a rather useful question starts appearing:
Do I actually want to keep doing this?
Not can I.
Not should I.
Do I want to?
Maybe that's part of becoming too. Not reinventing yourself completely. Just getting more selective about what comes with you.
So here's your question:
What's one thing you're ready to stop carrying into the next version of your life?
You don't need a profound answer.
Mine might occasionally be other people's nonsense. 😉
