Port Macquarie Pirates Rugby Union Club

Port Macquarie Pirates Rugby Union Club Big rugby, big fun, one club. Respect the game. A family and fun-orientated club for everyone of all ages and abilities.

In 1974 Rugby was born in Port Macquarie by this club. 19 x 1st Grade Men and Women Premierships later, we have a team for everyone; girls, boys and all abilities from 6 years old to Golden Oldies. We focus on sharing the love of rugby union, developing our players and building the club to be a better version of itself each year. We have teams from Under 6 all the way through to Golden Oldies. U6

to U12 play on Friday nights in the local PMQ competition at Stuart Park. U14 Girls/Boys, U16 Girls/Boys, U18 Boys, Women and Men's teams play Saturdays in the upper MNC Rugby competition.

Let’s call it like it is… without match officials, we’re all just a bunch of people standing on a paddock wondering who’s meant to blow the whistle. 🏉

Think you’ve got the skills to interpret the 21 laws better than the person in the middle? Fantastic — the MNC Rugby Referees Association would love to meet you! There’s a whistle waiting, a rule book with your name on it, and only a few hundred hours of training standing between you and glory. 😉

For everyone else, we suggest doing what you came for — play hard, support your team, enjoy the footy, and remember that even the referee occasionally knows what they’re doing… probably. 😜

Our match officials make sure the game happens every week, and while debate is part of rugby, abuse isn’t. Cross that line and you might find yourself watching the rest of the game from the sidelines — which is also a great opportunity to start those referee courses you’ve been avoiding.

Now, let's get back to Rugby 😉

Celebrating 10 Years of Pirate Women 🏴‍☠️

Join us as we celebrate 10 incredible years of the Port Macquarie Rugby Club Women’s Team — a decade of strength, mateship, unforgettable moments on and off the field, and more than a few Premierships along the way 🏆

Kick things off on Friday, July 3rd from 6pm with an informal get-together at Settlers Inn. It’s a great chance to reconnect, share stories, and raise a glass to the women, coaches, managers, volunteers, and supporters who have helped build our Women’s Team over the years.

Then back it up on Saturday, July 4th at Stuarts Park as we celebrate our Pirate Women during a huge day of rugby, with Pirates taking on the Kempsey Cannonballs. Festivities kick off from 12pm, so come down, wear your colours, and be part of the celebration.

Whether you’re a past player, current player, supporter, volunteer, or friend of the Pirates Rugby Club, we’d love to see you there ❤️🖤❤️🏴‍☠️

Please RSVP with a quick message to Angie 0435 147 545

$ have been secured from the NSW Rugby World Cup Legacy Grant Program and our beloved main field is getting some love: Field drainage! 🫗

The subsurface drainage improvements will deliver massive clear benefits, including:

✅ Reduced wet-weather cancellations and improved reliability for fixtures and training. More rugby and less ''Ahhhh no, not again!"
✅ Increased usable field capacity, supporting junior and senior programming across the season
✅ Improved ability to plan and grow participation, including women and girls and junior development
✅ Improved safety and surface condition, reducing boggy and unsafe areas for contact sport
✅ Better overall rugby experiences for participants, volunteers and spectators.

👏A massive thanks to the Port Macquarie Hastings Council for securing our piece of the pie from the NSW Rugby World Cup Legacy Grant Program.

Now, about that new clubhouse.....🥹
