Port Lincoln Tuna Classic

South Australia's largest Southern Bluefin Tuna Tournament on 10kg line class only. Terms and Conditions apply.

The Port Lincoln Tuna Classic Incorporated is a non-for-profit organisation which runs a prestigious Southern Bluefin Tuna fishing competition each year. Entry forms will be available on our website soon and we encourage registrations early, as they close early in 2026. Two days of fishing - with two competitions:
THE CALCUTTA:
The aim is to catch the largest, heaviest and most impressive Southern Blue Fin Tuna in the waters off Port Lincoln, to qualify a fish must weigh over 10kg, measuring over 78cm to the fork. THE SHOOTOUT:
The aim is to catch and release the highest number of Southern Bluefin Tuna in the waters off Port Lincoln. On Friday 20th March 2026, a briefing night will be held at the Marina Hotel, followed by two days of the tournament, ending with a presentation night at the Marina Hotel again on Sunday 22nd March 2026.

Off-season doesn't mean off the clock. 🛠️

The committee is already hard at work behind the scenes sorting logistics, rules, prizes and everything in between to make 2027 the best one yet. A huge thank you to the volunteers who put in the hours so the rest of us can enjoy the weekend.

🎣 CALLING ALL TAGGERS.. a bit of a fishy mystery! 🎣

We've had a great message from Levi at SAFTAG (the legends who supply our tagging kits every year for the Classic).

SAFTAG has just recorded a recapture of a Mulloway up on the Ceduna beaches and the tag on it traces back to one of our very own Tuna Classic tag packs! 🐟

Here's the catch though 😅 the original tagger hasn't reported their tag yet, so we can't complete the story. That's where you come in.
