🤸♀️ 2026 Gymnastics SA Junior State Championships
Port Lincoln Gymnastics Club sent a team of seven Women’s Artistic gymnasts (WAG) to the 2026 Gymnastics SA Junior State Championships 21-23 August to compete at their pinnacle event for the year! ❤️🖤
Over 700 gymnasts competed across 9 sessions of Rhythmic, Aerobics and Women’s Artistic Gymnastics from Friday to Sunday with our Port Lincoln team bringing plenty of sass, confidence and big smiles to the floor, flying down the runway for vault, swinging for the clouds on bars and balancing for dear life on beam!
⭐ Level 4 Open Junior Division
The first WAG session hosted 35 Level 4 Open Junior gymnasts with Ida C and Larissa O kicking off their competition! Ida was first up on uneven bars performing beautiful swings taking out the silver medal 🥈 and Larissa O delivering a super-tight beam routine to claim the bronze medal 🥉. Both girls competed strongly across all four apparatus, showing great sportsmanship, confidence and determination throughout, especially the genuine smiles and eye contact during their floor routines for artistry ❤️🖤 We’re incredibly proud of the way Ida and Larissa represented Port Lincoln Gymnastics Club, and even more grateful for the support and encouragement they receive from their home coaches Kate and Alana thank you.
🌟 Level 3 – Open Senior / Under 9 Senior
Session 5 was an early Saturday start and a chilly morning for gymnasts Peyton W and Marlee L. For Marlee, it was extra special as she competed at her first ever State Championships in the big arena! The girls started on vault before heading to bars, where they showed some big swings and plenty of determination. Peyton had a great competition, finishing 5th on bars. She also had a new experience on floor when she lost her glasses mid routine, not to be phased, Peyton simply danced around them and carried on finishing her routine — what a great display of resilience and composure! 👏 Marlee also enjoyed the new experience taking it all in her stride and staying on to watch her teammates and cheer from the stands! Another huge shout out to home coaches Lisa, Lily and Kelly.
🌟 Level 3 – Under 9 Junior
Another gymnast making her State Championships debut was Lucy T, competing in the Level 3 Under 9 Junior division, another huge session of almost 100 gymnasts. Lucy was so brave to take on her first States as a sole competitor in amongst some of the SA’s best. Lucy started her competition on vault before swinging into bars and finishing with a fantastic 10th place overall. What a wonderful achievement at her first States and another thank you to her home coaches! 👏
☀️ Level 3 Under 10 Junior, Level 4 Under 10 Senior
Sunday was another early start with plenty of fog and two very excited gymnasts! Willow W (Level 3) and Koa L (Level 4) were up with the sparrows — hair braided, bright-eyed and ready to compete in one of the biggest sessions of the Championships with more than 100 WAG and Aerobic Gymnasts running consecutively! For Willow, it was also her State Championships debut, while Koa, a seasoned States competitor, taking to the arena for the third time. The girls started on floor, with Willow’s focus was competing evenly on all apparatus to meet her upgrade score, we followed this journey and there was a loud but confined uproar when she stayed on the balance beam to confirm her all-around score of 32.116 and her Level 3 badge! Koa quietly but strongly competed her routines on all apparatus to achieve 5th place on vault, bars and beam, the bronze medal🥉 on floor and 3rd place State Champion All Around! Thanks again to home coaches unable to attend the event!
All around another amazing State Championship event hosted by Gymnastics SA at Titanium Stadium in Adelaide! Thank you to Port Lincoln Gymnastics Club coaches and volunteers who helped prepare the girls for their competitions and well done GSA!
