Hoping things bounce back.

After visiting Pt Vic on the weekend and mixed reports and feed back about water quality in close for land base fisho's. Here is a dive from great southern reef foundation. I really hope it can bounce back.

Pt Victoria, Stansbury and Edithburgh

Did a loop today and had a look what’s happening on both side of yorkes.

Pt Vic the water had a greenish look, very little signs of and squid caught but the gar fishos where out and catching some good size fish.

Trotted across to Stansbury, was there back in October and the algae had hit hard. You couldn’t even see the bottom back then. The water looks to have improved. Clear bottom, but still no signs of squid or small fish. Plenty of boats coming and going.

On wards down to Edithburgh. Same here. Clear water still no signs of squid being caught but it was good to see kids catching some small leatherjackets and while we were there a decent samon.

Well as things look like they are improving on the east side the lower western side is struggling. Still worth a trip to support the local towns and spend some money at the shops and local cafes.

If you have managed to get a good catch over the weekend chuck up a pic below would love to see them. Good luck and tight lines.

Regards CJ.

Pt Rickaby on the YP. Not much foam from the Algal bloom but the water is dirty. Some fisho’s are catching gar from Pt Vic and the water looks just a dirty there.

The weather is great, so it’s still worth a drive and explore Yorkes.

South coast is clearing up. From one of the local surf schools. With the school holidays on the go might be a good time to get down the Coorong for some fishing. September is when the brim start to run.

Over the last few weeks been some good catches of salmon trout at the mouth. The algae looks to be subsiding along the south coast. Water looks clean and clear. Well worth a look and a chance to support our fish and tackle shops by getting back out there.

Out on the bikes this afternoon along the coast between Goolwa and Middleton. We have some of the best beaches here on the south coast. No sign or smell of the algae that has decimated our marine life.

Please don’t let that stop you from visiting this awesome coast.

Our tackle shops, surf schools and some shops are doing it tough.

Don’t let this be another Covid disaster for our businesses. There is very little algae around at the moment and if there is some green foam move to a different spot.

Come on SA go check out the coasts. Get back fishing, surfing, camping and enjoying the water.
