Australia’s Bryony Soden made history last night in Bangkok, defeating reigning champion Laura Burgos to capture the Rajadamnern Stadium Female Bantamweight Championship.

In an action-packed five-round battle, Soden showed incredible heart to produce a comeback victory after dropping the opening two rounds. Bryony turned the fight around with her boxing, finding success with her hands to battle her way back and level the contest 2-2 after four rounds.

With history on the line, Soden delivered when it mattered most, claiming the final round and the championship to etch her name into the Rajadamnern Stadium history books.

Soden becomes the first Australian Rajadamnern Stadium Champion and just the fourth female Bantamweight Champion in the stadium’s history. 🇦🇺🏆

Soden defeats reigning champion Laura Burgos to capture the Rajadamnern Stadium Female Bantamweight Championship at the iconic Rajadamnern Stadium in Bangkok.

Already the first Australian female to compete on RWS Muay Thai, Soden has now gone one step further and etched her name into Australian Muay Thai history as the country’s first-ever Rajadamnern Stadium Champion.

WMC WORLD CHAMPION LAURA BURGOS RETURNS TO ACTION IN BANGKOK

Reigning WMC Super Bantamweight World Champion Laura Burgos returns to action this weekend in Bangkok as the Mexican star faces Australia’s Bryony Soden at the legendary Rajadamnern Stadium. Burgos will once again step onto one of Muaythai’s biggest stages as she continues an outstanding run at the highest level of the sport.

Burgos has built an impressive championship résumé, progressing through the WMC pathway as a WMC Pan-American Champion before reaching the pinnacle as WMC World Champion. Her international achievements also include multiple IFMA World Championship gold medals and World Games gold, while her success in Thailand saw her make history as the first Mexican athlete to capture a Rajadamnern Stadium championship.

Standing across from her will be Bryony Soden WMC MAD champion, another athlete currently featured in the WMC professional rankings, setting up an exciting Mexico-versus-Australia encounter in the heart of Bangkok. For Burgos, it represents another opportunity to continue the momentum of a remarkable championship run, while Soden will look to make her mark against one of the leading names in the division. The World Muaythai Council wishes both athletes the very best ahead of this weekend’s contest.

Just doing what we do!! My 5th fight prep / 12 months fighting out of Mark Pease and I am 9 days away from fighting for the 53.5kg Rajadamnern Stadium Title on Rajadamnern World Series Sept 19th!

I head off to Thailand 🇹🇭 tomorrow to settle in and the focus becomes purely on the fight ahead. I can’t wait to make Australia 🇦🇺, my gym, my lineage at Three Lions Gym | Muaythai , my mum Janice Bowman , my sponsors, my friends, my family and everyone around me and MYSELF proud. I mean we already are but even more so!!!

And how’s the support from all the vibes at Strikeforce, frikken love this place and the people. I’ve truly levelled up in every facet and you all help and guide me to do so.
