AT THE HELM FOR 2026/27⚓️

We are proud to announce our on-field leadership team for the upcoming season. Leading the Port Fairy CC from the front is Captain/Coach Murray Staude, supported by Assistant Coaches Sam Allen and Kal Sineth.

Murray Staude takes on the club coaching role on the back of a fantastic 1st season as Premier captain, which culminated in him being announced as joint winner of the Steven Gibb Medal for best player for the first time. Onfield, Murray has quickly become a serious talent, off the field he now steps into the coaching role with fresh energy and a clear vision.

Kal Sineth joins us from Mortlake as joint Assistant Coach.
We are delighted Kal has chosen Port Fairy CC as his new home. Kal brings a fantastic cricket resume, having played Vic Premier cricket with Greenvale, sub district cricket at Elsternwick and the last 2 seasons at Mortlake, where he was selected in the Melbourne Country Week squad both years. A middle order bat / off spin bowler, Kal is looking forward to utilising his wealth of experience in a leadership role.

Sam Allen has been appointed joint Assistant Coach and brings fantastic leadership qualities that belie his young years. Having been earmarked as a leader early in his cricket career, and having captained at every level through his junior grades, this appointment is a natural progression for a born leader.

Together, this trio brings a tactical edge and a commitment to the high standard of cricket we strive for at Port Fairy.

The course is set. The preparation is underway. We look forward to seeing the crew in action.

NEW CAPTAIN AT THE HELM! 🏴‍☠️🏏

We are excited to announce a new leadership structure off the field at the Pirates!

After last night's AGM, the votes are in, the anchor is up, and we are thrilled to announce that Tim Fraser has been elected as the new President of the Port Fairy CC, bringing fresh energy and a new vision to the club.

After 5 years at the helm, Steve Dwyer has stepped down to Vice President, ensuring a seamless transition and providing Frase with the support needed to take us to the next level. It’s all about the "new voices, same heart" as we move forward together.

Frase is ready to lead the crew through the upcoming season as we hunt for some silverware (and maybe a bit of buried treasure). Let’s give him a massive welcome aboard!

They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old:
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the morning
We will remember them.

It was a privilege for the Port Fairy Cricket Club today to be involved in the Port Fairy ANZAC Day ceremony for the first time in a long while. A small group of dedicated Club members and their families marched down Sackville St to the war memorial with our returned servicemen and women and other community groups on a spectacular April morning.

During the ceremony, Premier cricketers Murray Staude and Aaron Williams laid a wreath on behalf of the Cricket Club as we paid our respects to Port Fairy's fallen servicemen and women.

Thank you to the Port Fairy RSL for allowing the Club to participate on their solemn day, and thank you also to Wally and Kristen Sheehan for their dedication to the ANZAC cause in organising the Club's involvement today.

After 3 years in charge down at Avery's Paddock, we take this opportunity to thank outgoing coach Alastair Templeton for his dedication to the ongoing development of the Port Fairy Cricket Club. Taking the Premier team to finals in 2 out of his 3 seasons, as well as having 3 Grand Finalists in the lower grades, he definitely leaves the club in a better place than before he was appointed. Stepping back from coaching due to family and work commitments, Alastair has still committed to the club as a player for next season as well as continuing to contribute to the cricket department. Congratulations on a great tenure Alastair, and we are definitely looking forward to seeing the next chapter in your Pirates' career.

Happy Birthday today to our Head Curator and Life Member, Bobby Dwyer. Bob is one of the hard working volunteers behind the scenes at the Port Fairy Cricket Club that just keep putting the work in, year in, year out. Love your work Bob, you keep on producing belters of decks, and on behalf of all the Pirates, we hope you had a great day.

Congratulations to all of our junior awards winners for season 2025/26. It was great to see so many youngsters celebrating a fantastic year down at the Wally Sheehan Pavillion. The highlight was undoubtedly the Under 13s being presented with their premiership flag in front of the big crowd. Special thanks to Regan Luhrs for organising the framed premiership mementos for the Under 13s and also presenting one for the club to Junior Co-ordinator Rob Procter. Well done to all of our coaches, parents, supporters and administrators on a brilliant season of junior Pirates' cricket.
