Commiserations to Coach Aleisha & her Inter 3s, and Coach Justine & her Junior 6s. It wasn’t quite the fairytale ending to season both these teams were hopeful for, going down in their Grand Final matches last night despite the valiant effort produced by both teams.
After making their way through to Grand Final from 3rd place our Inter 3s took on the Minor Premiers, Hope Valley 3, in a hotly contested and physical match! It’s safe to say our Allstars fought right up until the last whistle, applying an immense amount of scoreline pressure onto their opposition throughout the last quarter to chew into the deficit, but sadly went down by as little as 4-goals.
Our Junior 6s had a bit of a tough night at the office, also finding themselves coming up against Minor Premiers, Pedare 3. Our Allstars were most definitely up for the challenge and left absolutely everything they had in the tank out on court, but unfortunately fell short against a very experienced team.
Nonetheless, both teams had incredible seasons and put an admirable amount of work/effort in behind the scenes to get to the point of playing in a Grand Final match, and we couldn’t be any more proud of all our Allstars! There’s just 2 teams who make a Grand Final match each season, and to finish up your season as RUNNER-UP PREMIERS doesn’t sound too shabby, especially when both teams consist of players who are playing up out of their dedicated age group. There’s only up from here for both of these teams!🙌🏼
We also wanted to quickly thank our replacement players for Inter 3, Ayla B from J4, and Emma M & Khyathi G from J5 who have stepped in over the past couple of weeks (and last night) to help the team with player numbers! Our Inter 3s faced a tricky situation over Preliminary & Grand Final night with a few players who sadly couldn’t be in Adelaide for recent matches. Whilst we missed our Inter 3 girls dearly, we really can’t thank our Junior girls (and parents) enough for stepping up and helping the team out! Our Inters wouldn’t have been able to play without your help, and your support meant everything to the girls — so thank you immensely!🫶🏼
Also a big THANK YOU to the family, friends, fellow Allstars and supporters who came out to cheer on both teams last night! Your presence didn’t go unnoticed, and we loved seeing everyone with their pom poms and signs❤️💙
