Thank you to everyone who came along and did some work at the reserve today (a couple more attended who aren’t pictured). Plenty achieved today:

-Massive cutting back and clean up around all the tree plantation areas

-Clubrooms cleaned

-Changerooms and sheds cleanout

-Spraying and mowing

-BBQ area maintenance

Well done to the cricket club on a great season, we look forward to making our reserve an even better place in 2026/27.

The old wooden fence at the front of the pavilion got an upgrade yesterday, many thanks to Grant Place, Terry Place and Brad and Hunter from Hillman Building & Maintenance for installing the new picket fence!

Many thanks to Graeme Murphy and Terry Place for an incredible combined 72 years of service to the Pomborneit Recreation Reserve committee.

Graeme and Terry both joined the committee on September 14th 1989, with both finishing up at last night’s triennial election meeting.

Graeme served as vice president for 21 years before assuming the secretary role for the past 15 years. Graeme will continue in a mowing/maintenance role at the reserve.

Terry served 36 years as treasurer, doing a meticulous job with the financials and planning at the reserve, and leaves with the reserve in a healthy financial position.

A massive thank you to both men for their incredible service in a period that has seen much change and development at the reserve.

As voted at last night’s meeting, the committee for the next 3 years is-

President: Grant Place
Vice President: Dave Murphy
Secretary: Luke Reynolds
Treasurer: Stephen Hill
General committee: Brad Hillman, Patrick Johnstone, Tim Place, Aaron Van Es & Josh Place.

The Pomborneit Cricket Club is looking to build a much needed second oval from scratch on land purchased by the club adjacent to it's traditional home at the Pomborneit Recreation Reserve to cater for the club's massive growth in participants and members over the past decade.
