At JUMP! Swim Schools, we believe swimming lessons should feel positive, not pressured 💙

We’re not about rushing kids through levels. We’re about building confident, capable swimmers for life.

That’s why our lessons are built around small groups, warm water, and a nurturing approach that helps children progress at their own pace while building lifelong water safety skills 🌊

💦 On the blog: Hidden Dangers: Why Drowning Risks Continue Through Winter

Aussie parents often believe that Winter is “the safe season” when water risks die down. But the data tells a different story as drowning risks continue through Winter.

Here are the most common myths about Winter & Water Safety...
Myth 1: “Drowning risks are low in winter.”
Myth 2: “My child can already swim they’ll be fine for a few months off.”
Myth 3: “Drowning is noisy I’ll hear it.”
Myth 4: “We don’t go to the beach in Winter, so we don’t need lessons.”
Myth 5: “Winter illnesses make swimming unsafe.”

🚨 Did you know? Accidental falls into water account for ~77% of drownings in toddlers and young children aged 0-4 years old?

In this age group, they're curious and mobile but can’t recognise danger around water.
Most incidents happen quickly and silently, often in just a few seconds.

What you can do:
💦 Always supervise your child within arm’s reach near water.
💦 Enrol them in swimming lessons to build water confidence and essential safety skills.

Water is fun but awareness and safety comes first!

Safety Week wrapped up yesterday, and we want to say a huge thank you to everyone who participated! We hope all of our swimmers had lots of fun while learning such important water safety skills 💙

Here are some highlights from our Duck class swimmer, Mia, practising her safety falls! 🌊

Learning safe water entries and how to turn back to the wall is an important life-saving skill for young swimmers. Practising these skills helps children build confidence in and around the water, while also teaching them how to react safely if they ever accidentally fall in.

We’re so proud of all our swimmers for their fantastic efforts throughout the week! 👏🐥

🌊💦 Safety Week kicked off with a splash yesterday and the fun continues through to Sunday, 24 May!

Throughout the week, students will be learning important life-saving water safety skills and building awareness through lots of engaging activities.

This week, students are encouraged to swim without goggles to help build confidence in the water, and to wear dress-up costumes or old pyjamas so they can experience how heavy everyday clothes become if they accidentally fall in. 👕🩳

We also asked some of our students what they wanted to dress up as, and their answers did not disappoint:
✨ Aiva: “Like her Pa”
🦓 Oliver: “A stripey towel”

We can’t wait to see everyone’s creative outfits this week! 🏊‍♂️🎉
