The new season is just around the crease, and it’s time to get the gang back together. Come down to the Plenty Cricket Club AGM and be part of what makes this club great.

Did you know? 🤔🏏

Tom Wills — captain of Victoria’s cricket team and one of Australia’s greatest sporting pioneers — publicly called for a game to keep cricketers fit during the winter of 1858, and the AFL was created for exactly that reason.

Played on Melbourne’s cricket grounds, the game was designed to build fitness, endurance and sharp hands — so players were ready to middle them again when summer rolled around. ☀️💪

So next time you see a screamer in the slips… just remember, footy may have had something to do with it 👏🏏

Plenty Cricket Club is thrilled to announce the signing of Matt Ross as our new 1st XI Captain for the upcoming 2026/27 season.

Matt joins us from Heidelberg Cricket Club, where he spent the past three seasons as Assistant Coach. He began his senior cricket journey at Bundoora United and was a valued member of their 2013/2014 1st XI premiership side, before later taking on captaincy and coaching roles within the club.

Matt brings a wealth of experience, leadership and cricket knowledge to our playing group, but most importantly, he is a fantastic person who will be a great addition to our club and culture.

Please join us in welcoming Matt, Rhiannon and the kids to the Plenty family! 💛💙

🏏 T-minus 122 days until pre-season cricket training starts.

We all fill the off-season in different ways. Some switch straight into footy mode, some hit the gym, some head off on holidays, and some enjoy giving the whites and the kit bag a well-earned rest.

But one thing’s for sure — cricket will be back before we know it. 👀

🏏🔵🟡 The keys have been handed over, the covers are packed away, and the scorebooks (and scorers) can finally have a rest… and just like that, another cricket season is done and dusted at Plenty. 🔵🟡🏏

What a season it’s been. 🙌

The highs, the lows, the near misses, the big wins, the laughs, the nerves, the celebrations, the heartbreaks — that’s cricket, and that’s why we love it. 💙💛

From our Junior Blasters taking their first swings, to our juniors — literally flying the flag this season (and congratulations again to our U13s! 👏🏏🏆) — to our seniors, and those special father & son moments that remind us what a true family club looks like 👨‍👦💙💛 — to the training sessions, the hard work, and the quiet grind behind it all 💪🏏 — to the volunteers, the sponsors, life members, reunion legends, and everyone who played a part in the club this year — thank you. 🙌

To the coaches, team managers, scorers, canteen crew, ground set-up crew, committee members, and all the behind-the-scenes champions who make the bails fly every single week — you are the heartbeat of this club. 💪🔵🟡

Cricket clubs are built on more than runs and wickets. They’re built on people. Good people. Plenty people. ⭐🏡

From everyone at the club, thank you for being part of the journey this season. We hope to see you all back again next year at the world-famous Plenty Park. 🌍🏏
