Dear South Australian Students, Parents and Caregivers,

We hope you are well and have not been too impacted by the latest lockdown.

Whilst the SA government announced that the 7 day lockdown conditions will be lifted as of today (Wed 28th July), the Department for Education has temporarily forbidden schools from hiring their hall facilities to external groups. This means that our venues are unable to grant us access to run classes for the time being. We expect these restrictions to be lifted within the next week or so, and we will contact you again as soon as we have been given permission to return.

In the meantime, a big CONGRATULATIONS to the many students who’ve maintained their karate routines over the last 7 days by either attending our LIVE Zoom classes, or by utilizing our Online Dojo home-training videos. It’s great to see so many of you staying active during lockdown and we look forward to seeing you back in the dojo as soon as we can re-open.

Please note that we will continue running Live Zoom classes each night until our dojos re-open and you still have full access to over 120 on-demand home training videos via our GKR Karate Online Dojo. All the log-in information for your Online Dojo access was emailed to you last Tuesday/Wednesday, so check your inbox for details if you haven’t already. REDUCED FEES
As you’d be aware, there have been a number of snap lockdowns imposed in SA over the last 6-7 months, and many more in other states. Where the duration of these closures has been a week or greater, we have immediately substituted dojo training with nightly Online ZOOM classes, and granted student’s access our Online Dojo video library.

The frequency and unpredictability of these lockdowns makes it very difficult for many sections of the economy, with Fitness centres and Martial Arts schools being amongst those most impacted. With this in mind, we hope you can appreciate the need for us to now implement a nominal weekly training fee during lockdowns that is proportional to the services we are offering during those times.

This rate will be $15.00 per week per family, which represents a notable decrease for many students, especially for families where it signifies a 60% to 70% reduction. If you are a long-term single student whose weekly training fee is equal to this already, then there will be no change to your rate.

It was uncertain if this current lockdown would last for more than 7 days. As such, your direct debit payments have remained as normal over the past week. Now that the Department for Education has delayed our return and not yet specified a re-start date, we have arranged for your training fees to be adjusted from your next payment to reflect this $15/week per family rate. We will ensure you receive this reduced rate for a period of time that is equivalent to the duration of the lockdown.

Our direct debit provider requires 48 hours to initiate any bulk changes of this nature, so these fee adjustments will begin from this coming Friday the 30th July onwards.

Please note that the above arrangements will be our standard fall-back procedure from now on should there be any further lockdowns that last for one week or more (hopefully, this was the last one). We hope you can appreciate our commitment to provide an ongoing training routine for students during these lockdowns and are in a position to keep supporting us throughout these challenging periods.

Dear South Australian Students, Parents and Caregivers,

As you are no doubt aware, the SA Premier has announced this morning that South Australia will go into lockdown for the next 7 days, as from tonight 6pm Tuesday 20th July. Unfortunately this means we won’t be able to run classes in our dojos for the time being. Hopefully, this lockdown will be relatively short, and we’ll be able to return to normal dojo training very soon.

During times like these, we like to make sure that our students have every opportunity to maintain their regular karate training routines. Therefore, we’ve implemented 2 exciting HOME training options for you:

1) LIVE DAILY ZOOM CLASSES – OPEN TO ALL AGES AND GRADES

Starting today, Tuesday 20th July, we will be conducting LIVE karate classes via the ZOOM video platform, and these will be open to all GKR Karate students in South Australia. All you need is a bit of space and an internet connection and you can be training in a LIVE class with our regular Sensei group. We will continue running these live online classes for the duration of the lockdown!

HOW TO VIEW YOUR TIMETABLE AND JOIN YOUR ZOOM CLASS
Click on the ZOOM TIMETABLE AND CLASS ACCESS button below and this will display all of the ZOOM classes running in your area. Once you’ve decided which class you’d like to attend, simply click on that class and this will take you directly to the online ‘waiting room’. The instructor will then admit you into the class as soon as they’re ready. Please arrive 10 minutes before the start time…. thank you.

Please note also that your attendance at any one of these Zoom sessions will count as a class attended on your training card. If you’ve not tried training in an online class yet, then give it a try! It’s a lot of fun, and a great way to stay ‘karate-active’ during periods where dojos cannot open.

2) ACCESS TO GKR KARATE’S ONLINE DOJO

In addition to our daily Zoom classes, we will also be granting every South Australian student access to the GKR Karate Online Dojo. Our Online Dojo contains over 120 fantastic home training videos that are suitable for children and adults of all grades. These videos are all available ON DEMAND so you can watch and train along with them at a time that suits you. Even though we hope the lockdown only lasts for a short time, we will be providing you access to the Online Dojo for 30 Days!

Within the next 24 hours, you will receive an email granting you access to the Online Dojo and a separate email with your unique log-in number. There’s so much to watch and do on the site, and we encourage you to take advantage of it as much as possible. ENJOY😊

Dear South Australian Students,

After a brief closure, we’re excited to announce that………….

OUR CLASSES ARE RE-OPENING FROM TUESDAY 1ST DECEMBER IN SOUTH AUSTRALIA

The majority of our venues have granted us immediate access to their halls and classes will commence straight away in these locations. A small number of schools have indicated a delay in re-opening their hall to community hirers, but we will continue corresponding with these venues and let you know as soon as those classes can open.

For those students on a Direct Debit system, please note that your payments were suspended just after the lockdown was announced and their re-activation will be timed so that you will not be charged for any of the class-closure period. As such, your payments will not re-commence until your local/usual GKR Karate dojo has re-opened.

If you’re happy to travel a little further to train until your local dojo re-opens, then please email us at the address below and we will arrange to re-activate your training pass.
