The Club's page can't be recommended.

This appears to be targeted as it seems that we are not the only shooting sports club or association that has been hit with this.

This past Sunday PFRC held an amazing Christmas Party filled with great food, great company and great memories.

Congratulations Neil on achieving life membership for your exceptional service to the club as well as all of this year's trophy winners. Many thanks is also due to all of the volunteers who helped make this day so special.

We would also like to thank our Club's New Patron Hon Phil Twiss MLC for taking the time to talk to our members about recent changes to legislation affecting our sport. Phil is right on the vanguard of the voices advocating for our sport.

From all of us at PFRC we wish everyone a Happy Christmas and a Merry New Year.

Congratulations to Bryon Begovich for taking out PFRC’s 2025 Service Rifle Handicap Shoot, scoring an adjusted 167 with an Australian made Short Magazine Lee Enfield. This rifle is not dissimilar to the rifles carried by the diggers in the trophy and for a very good reason . . . . . . .

The very premise of Service Rifle is to experience history by competing with obsolete military rifles, most examples being genuine WW1 & WW2 models.

In a form of beating swords into plowshares these rifles were surplussed in bulk onto the civilian market following both wars as an affordable option for farmers and sportsmen alike, fulling important needs in society with a tool that most of these men who were also Returned Servicemen were familiar with.

With proud thanksgiving, a mother for her children,
England mourns for her dead across the sea.
Flesh of her flesh they were, spirit of her spirit,
Fallen in the cause of the free.

Solemn the drums thrill; Death august and royal
Sings sorrow up into immortal spheres,
There is music in the midst of desolation
And a glory that shines upon our tears.

They went with songs to the battle, they were young,
Straight of limb, true of eye, steady and aglow.
They were staunch to the end against odds uncounted;
They fell with their faces to the foe.

They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old:
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the morning
We will remember them.

They mingle not with their laughing comrades again;
They sit no more at familiar tables of home;
They have no lot in our labour of the day-time;
They sleep beyond England's foam.

But where our desires are and our hopes profound,
Felt as a well-spring that is hidden from sight,
To the innermost heart of their own land they are known
As the stars are known to the Night;

As the stars that shall be bright when we are dust,
Moving in marches upon the heavenly plain;
As the stars that are starry in the time of our darkness,
To the end, to the end, they remain.

For the Fallen

Yesterday afternoon Perth Field Rifle Club hosted a forum where candidates and members from the Liberals WA came to listen to the concerns our members have regarding the Fi****ms Act 2024 (WA) which was passed earlier in the year. PFRC was able to cram almost 100 of our members and their families into our clubhouse for the event.

The forum was organised and chaired by our Publicity Officer, Joshua Kingshott. and included speeches from Professor Matthew Ogilvie and his son John who both discussed how the recently passed Fi****ms Act 2024 is a Trojan Horse designed to impinge upon the rights and liberties of all West Australians (not just fi****ms owners), examples including;

- Compelling anyone to make statements to police (right to silence),
- Unfair compensation for fi****ms taken during the gun-grab (property rights),
- Removal of appeals on licensing decisions to SAT (judicial oversight), and
- Granting police the power to whimsically decide that they don't like the way that someone lives their life or who they are related to and then arbitrarily denying applications or cancelling licences.

Copies of the speeches have been uploaded to our website pfrc.com.au

After the speeches concluded our members were given the opportunity to ask a litany of questions where it was openly admitted by our guests that the Liberal Party had dropped the ball by not adopting a strong position in support of licensed fi****ms owners and that despite this the majority of ordinary members don't believe us to be the boogeyman that we have been made out to be. Our guests also noted that Liberal Parliamentarians are allowed to vote as per their conscience on almost all matters and that in contrast to other parties their candidates are selected by the rank and file membership rather than any central authority.

This post should not be construed as PFRC endorsing any political party as we are happy to work with any party or person that is willing to engage with us and hear the concerns of licensed fi****ms owners. The Liberal Party has also not yet come out with an official policy position on fi****ms but we are hopeful that discussions like this may encourage them to get behind licensed fi****ms owners.

Here is something to brighten everyone's weekend before attend their clubs weekend shoots.

On Sat 17Aug24 PFRC hosted a shoot for Joondalup Scout Group, there was quite a bit of interest in our sport from the scouts and their parents and we have since received a certificate of appreciation for the experience.

PFRC is utterly committed to the advancement of the shooting sports particularly amongst juniors.

PFRC has not placed a cap on memberships, however to reduce the workload on our volunteers any aspiring members should read the information available at pfrc.com.au prior to contacting the club. Please bare with us as there will be delays in processing applications due to the influx of large numbers of applications in recent days.

05/09/2024

Due to the drastically increased patronage at our calendar shoots and the increased workload on our Volunteer Range Officers the Committee has decided that nominations for all shoots will now close forty-five (45) minutes prior to the start time.

The calendar has been changed to reflect this and as always is available at pfrc.com.au
