Spending some time away from the city can be a great way to escape from hectic work schedules, traffic jams, pollution and noise. Sometimes what some people need is just some peace and quiet. However, you don’t have to do it alone. Why not bring your family members with you? Camping is the outdoor activity that I am talking about. In order for you to have a place to stay in the wilderness, you and your family need a cabin tent.

A beginner should first try car camping before venturing into the back-country with everything they need on their backs. The reason for this is that it is easier and a lot safer compared to backpacking. Car camping is a good way to practice for backpacking. Like they say, learn to walk before you can run.

As we start the new camping season its always good to review some tips on keeping dry. Nothing makes a campout more unbearable than getting your gear all soggy! Although most people camp during the summer months when it’s warm and dry there are times during the season when you will get rain. But, fear not! Here are some tips to staying dry that I have learned from my 25+ years camping with the Boy Scouts

Pack light but bring a variety of clothes to deal with heat and cold. Be prepared to let vanity go. Pack a swimsuit (even if you hate how you look in it), a warm outfit (like a sweat suit or a fleece outfit), a cool outfit (shorts and a tank top), and comfortable walking shoes

Prepare by doing some on line research. See what the camping area is like. Pick a pretty camping area that’s close to home and not too isolated. Check out temperatures, wildlife, recreational opportunities and any known dangers. If there is any wildlife in the area that could pose a threat, such as a poisonous snake or bear, find out how to identify the animal and what to do if you see one. Most likely, if you camp in a populated area, you will not see any wildlife other than the guys next doo
