A packed bag still needs a check-in.

Open it. Find what you need. Check the condition of the contents and follow the care, storage and expiry guidance on each item.

Then make sure the people who may use it know where it lives.

FIND THE MISSING 10%

Most setups don’t need rebuilding from zero. Usually it’s one or two small gaps that become annoying when you actually need the gear.

Tonight, look for:
💡 Lighting that’s charged
🔋 Backup power + the right cable
🧭 Navigation that still works offline
🎒 A fixed place for the small essentials

Fix the gap. Keep the rest.

Reading the instructions is a good start. Knowing how your gear works is better.

Choose one item this week—a torch, radio or another part of your kit—and practise using it safely according to the manufacturer's instructions.

Find the controls. Check what it needs. Show someone else in the household.

Small practice now makes unfamiliar gear more familiar later.

Water deserves a place in the plan—not just a last-minute spot on the shopping list.

Think about your household, your pets and how you would manage if your usual supply was interrupted.

Our water filtration guide is a useful starting point. Follow local advice and the storage instructions for the containers and supplies you choose.

What piece of gear earns its spot every time?

The thing you keep packing because you actually use it—not just because it looks good in the bag.
