Full results in from last weekend's windward leewards. We thought we wouldn't be a contender after one (a contender) went through our mainsail before the 1st race.

Managed to drop the main and plonk a stickyback patch on it (Thanks April ) got sorted and had some fun in the sun.

Sailed the first and second races with the J1, then did a change to the J2 before race 3. Boat felt great in the last race but a jib sheet went bang just after we tacked on the port layline, so we had to tack back and made repairs which put us way above the mark. The viper nailed the layline and was well clear at the top mark, we were back in 4th. Managed to come downhill well and into 2nd over the line, so 1 - 1 - 2 over the line and 2 - 2- 3 on the RFBYC handicaps. a quick calc on SMS saw us still at the top end so pretty happy with the day.

Boom fixed so out sailing this weekend with 3 short windward leeward races Melville water west. Craig Hansen helped out as Richard was doing oven cleaning business. Led the fleet start to finish for the first two races, resulting in a 1st and 2nd on handicap, but a broken Jib sheet made us tack off the layline in the final race while we made makeshift repairs, so 4th around the top. Passed the other T750 on the separation mark as he had to shoot it without enough speed and then cruised past the melges down hill to get 2nd to Fizz, Nick Leewins Viper.
Really enjoyable day on the water thanks rfbyc.

Late probably needs an expletive in front to truly describe our start, most of the fleet was at Armstrong Bank already. Hiker was actually on the bank, so we were quickly making up time on her.
T boats have an awesome power to weight ratio and very easily driven narrow hull so we are giant killers in the light. Yesterday was no exception as we mowed through the rest of the fleet and in the passing lane all day except for 1 bad windshift seeing Grand Prix stick her bow back in front for a brief moment, then 44.7 feet of length giving French Kiss the edge on the penultimate close reach to Parker.
The trip home was the best breeze of the day, managing high 11s on a sunny afternoon.
Great crew work as usual, good eyes for wind and a very enjoyable afternoon.
Back in the bar the beer was cold, and no shortage due to several misdemeanours by myself and another crew.

With Violent Femmes and Hoodoos being the go Saturday, we ventured to Claremonts Commodore's Cup Sunday.

Usual musical chair scenario with Nick committed at efyc then Chris getting an itch to Twitch from Mandurah home. The crew list topped up with Mandy M and Bruce Strapped the late inclusion a couple of hours prior to start.

The pole doing a turn as we extended at the start took the tack line on a circumnavigation of the pole, basically meaning a kiteless run to the first mark. Whip it was first around, then showed 31 ft cat reaching speed to get a break on the rest of us as we turned for a tack to Mosman buoy.

Luckily rafting is more of a downwind pursuit so TG closed the gap with sails on hard, only to watch Whip It zoom off again in pressure headed for the Claremont bank. The pressure got soft in by Burnside so our power to wetted area ratio again cancelled the gains. The second lap was pretty much a carbon copy, we extended nicely on the main fleet and probably closed on Whip it as they got stuck in a few light bits.

Result was a win in div 1&2 and took the overall by 1 second from the other fleet winner.

As usual the crew were great, the beers were cold and Claremont were friendly.

Saturday was a good seabreeze and saw the J2 go up as we left the jetty. It was great to be on the water after spending the week trying to find crew that would come close to the fab for(deckies) Nick and Vic - Nick on Turkish Delight for the East Freo Billy Run and Vic struggling with a new phone, it's calendar and a hair appointment.
Got Reimi signed up and short a fifth so the 15 knots plus looked like a bit too much with a sub 50kg front end until I managed to collar Andy Colquhoun to help out. Things improved from there as Victoria became available which made Reimi's late bail out manageable and we had a pretty impressive starting line up.
A general recall was good starting practice and we managed to get away well on the restart, leading the fleet around for a few laps. A kite halyard caught in behind the mast end of a batten pocket saw us struggle with the last kite hoist and the Shaw 650 managed to get us on the last run. There was some discussions regards an overlap at the bottom mark that have been put in the memory bank - obviously our pole and kite sitting 3m in front of the bow are invisible to some. We circled around after being closed out and gave the Shaw enough breathing space to get into the flat water and hold on to about 20 seconds lead at the finish.
A pleasant sail getting up into the 15s and 16s downwind - and thanks to the crew for a great day.

Had some fun Saturday – more than Richard who was at home with food poisoning. Sam Monkhouse asked his class if anyone wanted a sail and we ended up with 12 yo Lachlan with us for the afternoon – 47 years younger and dare I say it quite a few more kilos less.

Managed 15.8 on the speedo down the river which is getting pretty close to 19 as we are reading slow. Best part was no issues or dramas and we kept the smiles all around the course. Nearly 9 minutes ahead or the second boat home and our usual position near the bottom of the page on handicap.

Another double ender on Saturday, had a great sail on a glamour day with not much time left on the race track. Great start, it amazes me why people still try and barge but we took out the boat end and closed the door on most of the fleet. Led all day with the only two slow bits being a wind change making a gybe angle in to Dolphin West way too hot and making us drop the kite to get to the mark, and then taking the low road to como to give us time to change headsail.

Why double ender?

We managed last on Div 1 handicap after leading all day and taking the gun by 10 mins.

Al'so got 2nd (also last) on SMS to the T7 NY 25 seconds, they started with a smaller headsail which showed some vision.
