Did you know that many of the fun movements we use in our pre-school dance classes are actually helping children get ready for school?
When children reach across their bodies, such as touching one hand to the opposite knee or stretching one arm across to the other side, they are practising crossing the midline. This important movement skill helps the left and right sides of the brain work together more efficiently.
Strong cross-body patterning supports many of the skills children need for a successful start to school, including reading, writing, concentration, hand-eye coordination, balance, and the ability to track across a page when reading.
Through dance, children naturally develop these foundations while moving, imagining, exploring, and having fun. They don't see it as "work"—they simply enjoy the magic of movement while building important skills for future learning.
At Dance Creations, we're passionate about nurturing the whole child, helping our little dancers develop confidence, coordination, creativity, and school readiness through joyful movement experiences. ✨💕
