We have a proud and long history of association with the West Australian Suburban Turf Club spanning from the clubs establishment in the 1964-1965 season. Following Nollamara’s merger with the Ausind Cricket Club Cricket Club the committee is keen to carry on the legacy of the collective history of both clubs with the desire of providing a great turf cricketing experience for our members.
The club had two sides in the West Australian Suburban Turf Competition last season playing in 2nd and 4th grade. It is our intention to renominate for those two grades, however, in exciting news, the players from Tuart Hill cricket club have joined us for the 24-25 season and as a result we are at least nominating for at least one or two one day sides this year, depending on player numbers.
We have been posting on Facebook and as a result have attracted some players from the perth Swan Competition who are wanting to play this year.
In other exciting news another Perth Swan Club is keen to start discussions this year to join with us for next season. If we are successful in this venture we will become a much stronger club with potentially 5-6 sides.
It is important that we continue to work hard to attract players and we welcome any introductions you can assist with in bringing players who would love to participate in our club and enjoy the wonderful facilities and comradeship.
As a club we are keen on increasing the number of sides in the competition for a number of reasons including:
- as a local club with extensive facilities we want to see the facilities used to their maximum extent including clubrooms, turf and synthetic facilities.
- we would like to create a community and social feel to the club which we believe is not being generated with only two sides.
- WASTCA are keen to ensure the sustainability of their clubs and the competition and would like teams to field more than two sides.
- we want to diversify our membership base and attract new members.
- we want to welcome any new members to join our committee so as to invigorate the club with their valuable input and leadership.
- We would like to eventually expand participation to include women’s and juniors.
If you are able to encourage new players to join we would ask you to highlight to them that they will experience the following advantages:.
- joining a well established and well run competition.
- excellent playing and training facilities.
- Agreements are in place with the City of Stirling to manage facilities making them available for use of our members and for hiring for fund raising initiatives..
- Agreements are in place with City of Stirling for Turf Management enabling the club to fund the maintenance of the turf pitches for our members use.
- A curator is in place to prepare and maintain wickets for both match day and training sessions.
- Members have access to quality Turf and synthetic wickets at our home ground at Des Penman Reserve.
- members have access to multiple levels of two day and one day grades.
- Opportunities exist for members to play in higher grades on Turf in either two day games of one day games as determined by the fixtures. Please leave your details on this page so we can get back to you with more details regarding training and first game date.
Cheers. KP
