We have nearly done it!

Packages being sent to South Hedland, Tasmania, Albany and Queensland among other places.

What we need - is anyone driving to Geraldton, Kalgoorlie, Albany or by some miracle Queensland in the next couple of weeks? We have full bags of jumpers going to a High School, a Senior footy club, a masters team and the AFL South Pacific (PNG/Nauru/Fiji).

Any help is appreciated so we don’t have to try and ship these bags! (Pic for attention from the first of two Auspost runs)

PUBLIC STATEMENT FROM THE PRESIDENT OF OSBORNE PARK FOOTBALL CLUB

In response to significant media attention today, and to comments shared by the City of Stirling, I am compelled to share a few clarifying comments.

City of Stirling Mayor, Mark Irwin, suggested that the items found at the club contained child po*******hy.
The item in question, part of the Silly Sunday costume, had a photo of the player himself on it. It did not contain photos of anyone else. It was an offensive and incredibly distasteful costume, I am
in no way trying to dispute that or defend the decision. Based on all of the advice we have received to date however, this is not a police matter. The police attended the club and inspected the item, and have not progressed further with an investigation.

The allegation of child po*******hy hits me really hard - as it does for many members of our community who are parents, own businesses and / or have public facing roles. It’s incredibly important to us to clarify this point.

Our community has played a very vocal role in mental health advocacy, raising over $100,000 through our annual Charity Rounds. In the spirit of that vulnerability, I would like to ask for some understanding on the impact this situation is having across our community of players and supporters. What is a controversial news story today - surfacing a lot of public opinion, is an incredibly difficult moment for those of us trying to do the right thing and find a way through the situation. This is something we’ll be dealing with long after the headlines are gone.

I would like to thank everyone for their support over the last 24 hours. I stepped up to lead the club during this time because I have seen all of the good that has been done by our community over the last 10+ years and I really wanted to try and preserve that. Needless to say, this situation is more than anything I am equipped to handle and I appreciate your patience and understanding as I navigate it the best way I know how.

PUBLIC STATEMENT FROM THE PRESIDENT OF OSBORNE PARK FOOTBALL CLUB

To our valued members, supporters, sponsors, and the wider Osborne Park community,
I write to you today as President of the Osborne Park Football Club to address a very serious matter that has brought the future of our club into question.

Recently, during our Silly Sunday celebrations, a member of our playing group wore a costume that was distasteful and unacceptable. As a club, we are really embarrassed that we allowed this to happen and that we didn’t intervene on the day. Let me be absolutely clear — this behaviour does not reflect the values or culture we stand for at Osborne Park, and we unreservedly apologise for the offence caused.

Since becoming aware of the incident, the Club has taken immediate and comprehensive steps to cooperate fully with both the Perth Football League and the City of Stirling. Unfortunately, despite our efforts, the City of Stirling have refused to engage with us and have forced us to vacate our lease without explanation. We have:
• Appointed a new leadership team to guide the club forward and take full accountability for the incident.
• Offered that the player in question is given a ban from the club.
• Engaged openly and transparently with all stakeholders to demonstrate our commitment to real and lasting change.

Despite these significant actions, the future of our club remains uncertain. We have been informed that a decision on whether Osborne Park Football Club will be allowed to continue will be made by the Perth Football League in early November.

This delay is placing considerable strain on our ability to plan for the upcoming season. We are currently unable to confirm coaching appointments, finalise player recruitment, or secure sponsorship commitments — all critical components of a successful football program.

While we acknowledge the seriousness of the situation, we firmly believe that the proposed consequence of shutting down an entire community club - with many years of history and deep roots in our local area - is grossly disproportionate.

Osborne Park Football Club is more than just one player, one day, or one poor decision. We are a diverse, inclusive, and passionate community who are committed to learning from this experience and ensuring it is never repeated.

Until the League hands down its final decision, we will not be making further comment. However, we remain hopeful that our demonstrated accountability and proactive response will be recognised as steps toward rebuilding trust and earning the right to continue representing our community.

***2025 AGM***

This Friday, August 22nd. 6pm-7pm (max) at The Mighty Quinn Tavern in Yokine.

WE NEED YOU TO ATTEND. It’s as simple as that, if we cannot form a committee for the 2026 season, the club will not enter any teams in the PFL. End of.

Even if you cannot jump on the committee, showing up will make a difference to the new President and Vice President. Your support will help them as they take on the huge task of stepping up into the roles!
