'OPTIMUM' has safely arrived in Greece 😀

A very busy week preparing INDIAN for her journey to Greece. The rig was removed, prepared and loaded, the keel, rudder and bowsprit were also removed. Everything was then packed securely onboard before INDIAN was wrapped ready to be transported to Fremantle port.

INDIAN's time with us has come to an end. She is heading to Greece to begin a new chapter of racing with Optimum Yacht Racing Team.

Owning and racing INDIAN with some great people and having so many accomplished young guys aboard has been one of the great things hopefully we have all done. Victories, memories, and friendships that will last a long time. I am truly proud of what the team has achieved since Paul and I first inspected her in Dubai in 2014.... 3 x Sydney Hobarts, 1 x Bali, 1 x Exmouth, 2 x Siska’s and all the local race records. It is a sad day, with a smile. Someone else’s turn.”

Boat Captain Paul Eldrid will travel to Greece to oversee the commissioning and spend time training the new team before joining them for some races in Europe later in the year. The team will enjoy one last sail on her to test some new Jibs before packing up and shipping to Greece in January.

Indian Sailing Team was delighted to welcome the Royal Freshwater Bay Yacht Club Junior Sailing Institute onboard. The young sailors gained an understanding about race preparation, safety, provisioning and watches. They also learnt about the navigation technology onboard and got to experience using the winches and pedestals. Thanks to Boat Captain Paul Eldrid, Sarah Ware, Will Drew and Will Boulden for their time.

Indian Sailing Team Delivery Part 2 Geraldton to Fremantle after the Fremantle to Exmouth Race & Rally. It was a very fast trip reaching nearly 20kts passing Lancelin. Thanks to the delivery team Paul, Sarah, Will, Sean & Max and to Geraldton Yacht Club for their hospitality.

It was our pleasure to invite junior sailors from Geraldton Yacht Club for a tour onboard INDIAN during our stopover in Geraldton after the Fremantle to Exmouth Race & Rally.
