To everyone who entered this years Crossfit Open - you're all absolute legends, and we couldn’t be prouder of the effort and energy you’ve brought every single week.

But a massive shoutout must go to the real MVPs — the ones who stayed back after class to cheer, showed up to Open Gym, and volunteered their time to judge. How good is our Grandstand community!!

Why we LOVE the Farmer’s Carry

Grip Strength = Game Changer
Your hands, fingers, and forearms are under constant tension.
Stronger grip means better deadlifts, pull-ups, and overall strength… plus it’s HUGE for long-term health and independence.
Carrying groceries, kids, luggage — this is strength that actually matters outside the gym.

Core of Steel

📍 Grandstand CrossFit

It’s not just a workout.

It’s not just pride.

It’s not just Scotland vs Wales…

It’s Jack Roberts 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 vs Tom Dempsey 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿.

Best mates. Training partners.

Brothers in chalk.

But when the clock hits 3… that friendship gets very complicated.

For months they’ve shared barbells, sweat, and unsolicited technique advice. They’ve pushed each other through PRs, bad reps, and questionable haircut phases.

But this Sunday?

There will be no shared warm-ups.

No “after you, mate.”

No polite plate changes.

Just one platform.

One score.

And a tension so thick you could cut it with a 20kg bumper.

Will the Scottish engine outlast the Welsh grit?

Will Dempsey’s smug grin survive if Roberts opens too hot?

Will they hug after… or is it straight to passive-aggressive Instagram captions?

The Open does strange things to friendships.

And these two? Let’s just say the chemistry is undeniable — whether it’s competitive fire or something slightly more dramatic 👀

Last week we said goodbye to 2 of 6:30am greats - Remi and his trusty human, Brian. Brian has been a member for almost 9 years, and decided to trade Aussie summers for Norway winters. He has updated all of Remi's fans with a pic of the blue eyed boy wandering in the snow. While we are excited for the 2 of them and their new life, we already miss their presence in the mornings.

Forward stepping lunges OR reverse lunges???

Forward lunges step forward and primarily target the quadriceps, while reverse lunges step backward, place less stress on the knees, and are more effective for engaging the glutes and hamstrings.
