Volleyball WA recently hosted a beach volleyball carnival in the lead‑up to National Reconciliation Week, bringing together more than 60 First Nations girls from ten Stars Foundation programs for a day of teamwork, connection and confidence‑building. The event showcased the power of sport to create culturally safe, inclusive spaces and strengthen community. The Stars Foundation plays a vital role in supporting First Nations girls and young women, empowering them to thrive through improved health, education, and wellbeing outcomes across all mainland states and the Northern Territory.

We are looking forward to, this carnival becoming an annual event on both the VWA and Stars Foundation calendars!

Volleyball WA acknowledges National Reconciliation Week (27 May – 3 June) a time for all Australians to learn about our shared histories, cultures, and achievements, and to reflect on how each of us can contribute to reconciliation.

We recognise the Traditional Custodians of the lands on which we play, train, and connect through volleyball, and pay our respects to Elders past and present.

Sport has the power to bring people together. At Volleyball WA, we’re committed to fostering an inclusive and respectful environment for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples across our volleyball community.

This week, and every week, we continue to listen, learn, and take meaningful steps towards strengthening relationships and building a more united future, on and off the court.
