Can you relate, or is that just her? 🤣

Our founder, Liz, recently attended the Family Business Association (FBA) Coffee Connect and it was a great reminder that some of the best insights happen over casual conversations with caffeine.

From swapping stories about business wins (and caffeine dependency) to sharing leadership challenges with fellow family business owners, Liz found it refreshing to experience authentic, curious, and natural conversations – without a pitch or that icky feeling. (We’ve all been to those kinds of networking events.)

A few takeaways from Liz’s cup (and conversation):

What do socks have to do with leadership?

At last week’s Family Business Association (FBA AU) 'Meet the Owner' event hosted by Quickmail, attendees heard how Sophie Stott and her father John Paul Tedeschi saw the market shifting before their eyes.

They turned a traditional brochure-catalogue mailing service into a thriving eCommerce distribution business ... one parcel (and pair of promotional socks) at a time.

They shared their story and it wasn’t sugar-coated. It was a real and raw story about innovation, growth, failure, succession and uncomfortable truths every family business faces:

🧭 There can only be one leader.
💬 You need people who tell you the truth.
💡 Hard decisions don’t get easier with time.

It was a great reminder that leadership isn’t about profit — it’s about people, purpose and passing the baton with trust.

Leaders Lobby Perth extends a big thanks to everyone who joined the recent cyber safety session.

Congratulations to the lucky door prize winner, Kate Walawski, who received 3 professional coaching sessions.

The evening was filled with big ‘aha’ learning moments and a few surprising ‘they did what’ reactions.

It served as a timely reminder that staying safe online isn’t just the responsibility of IT – it’s up to everyone. 💡
