Why is strength training so important for women ?
🏋️♀️Strength training builds bone density which is very important for women, as they have a higher risk of osteoporosis. As you age your bones degenerate. Lifting weights forces your bones to grow which will help protect you from breaks and fractures as you get older.
🏋️♀️ Helps improve sport performance and reduces the risk of injury. Strength training helps to improve strength and endurance which helps in everyday activities eg. carrying groceries.
🏋️♀️Improves posture, balance and coordination. Resistance training has also been shown to enhance cognitive function, including memory and attention span. This is because exercise increases blood flow and oxygen to the brain, which improves cognitive function.
🏋️♀️Improves mental health and mood. This is due to the release of endorphins, which are the body’s natural “feel-good” chemicals.
🏋️♀️ It improves your confidence and self-esteem. Seeing progress and improvements in strength and muscle mass can improve your self-image and make you feel more confident in your abilities.
