The WA All Abilities Football Association exists to provide the opportunity for people with a disability to be involved and participate in Australian football like every other Australian. By being involved, people with an intellectual or physical disability can improve their independence, well-being, self-esteem and life skills by being a valued member of a local community footy club.

Today, alongside the entire Australian community we pause to reflect and acknowledge the passing of a great Australian - Mr Neale Daniher AO. A man whose courage, humility and relentless advocacy changed lives far beyond the football field.

We will forever be grateful for Neale’s impact and the support he gave to WA All Abilities Football and our Starkick program. In 2025, Neale kindly came to Perth to lead participants across Matagarup Bridge during the Hand in Hand Crossing for Inclusion event.

That moment symbolised many things Neale stood for in his life. Community, inclusion, connection and ensuring everyone has the opportunity to be seen and valued.

Side by side, hand in hand with children and adults living with disability, their families, volunteers and supporters, he helped shine a national spotlight on the importance of opening those doors just that little bit wider so everyone is welcome inside.

On behalf of the Starkick family and the broader WAAAFA and WA Football community, we extend our heartfelt condolences to the Daniher family and all who knew and loved him.

Neale was quoted as saying - "The mark of a person is not what you say, but what you do."

Thank you, Neale - You certainly where the one "to do" and we will never forget what you did for our community.
