A good article from Flow Mountain Bike. It highlights the work that clubs and volunteers do in regard to trails and events.
Without our local clubs we would not have most of the trails that we have in Tassie today, along with races and events.
Club committees do a power of unpaid work, in their own time. Support your local club and put your hand up for a role, no matter how small.

That said, we have our AGM coming up in just over two weeks time, a good time to join our committee, as we have some exciting projects on the way!

Mountain bike clubs advocate for trails, run dig days, put on events, organise junior programs and so much more.

Club committee members are all volunteers with jobs, families and a life outside of the mountain bike club, and when member burnout hits, it can be catastrophic for the riding community.

We caught up with clubs from across the country to find out how they manage the workload and keep the proverbial train on its tracks.

Big shoutout to all the volunteers out there getting it done. Full story at the link in comments 🔗

A quick PSA.
The Penguin Clay Target Club will be hosting the 2026 State Championship at their Dial Range complex (next to the Montgomery Loop) this weekend Sept 12/13, approx. 9:30am on both days.
They would appreciate if riders stayed on official MTB trails as shooting will be on the bottom range.

Our guests speaker at our AGM this year is Lucy from Nomad Cycles Tasmania.
Originally from the UK, she has spent almost 15 years working in all different parts of the bike industry in the UK, NZ, Greece and Australia, and has ridden as many places in between as she could.
She moved to Tassie 3 years ago on a whim, when travelling around Australia, and fell in love with the places and people so decided to stay. Her love for getting about in the area and for the community is what inspired to start her mobile bicycle mechanic business, and to provide a service with the locals in mind.
Join us to hear her story, enjoy some food and refreshments and see what we have planned for Penguin.
4pm, Sunday the 27th of September at the OZ Rock Inn, 10 Beach Road Ulverstone.

WE NEED YOU!
With our 2026 AGM fast approaching we are on the lookout for new committee members.
To keep the future of the club safe and in good hands we require a solid working committee to manage the club’s projects, trails, events and future goals. We can only do this with the help of all our volunteers. If you are able make a small commitment, one club meeting per month and maybe put your hand up for a role, no matter how small, we would be very grateful.
We have the amazing riding facilities today thanks to the all the people in the past who gave up some of their free time to help us achieve what we have done so far.
There’s some exciting things in the pipeline, so if you want to be involved, just let us know or come along to our AGM on the 27th of September.
Cheers,
Streddaz

We are looking for sponsors for the 26/27 year!

We have had some great support from our past club sponsors over the previous years, and we are looking for the support for the next 12 months.
There are gold, silver and bronze level tiers, and all funds go back into making the Penguin MTB Park and Dial Range trails an awesome community asset.
If you are interested in becoming a sponsor please contact the club via email at [email protected]

This weeks night ride will be at Penguin, on Thursday night, at 6:30pm. Meet at the Monty car park. Plan is to do at least a MTB Park lap and a Monty loop.
For those that want a bit more, we will do an early Iron Tor loop at 5:15pm, again from the Monty car park and meet back up with the 6:30 group.
See you there! 👀
